Can someone tell me how much driving distance there is between GP and WDW. Will be staying here for 4 nights in the middle of March while DH is at a conference, so the kids and I plan to spend time at Disney. Not sure if I we want to take the shuttle or drive our rental car over. I feel like I would be more free to come and go by driving, but how hard is it to get there? I am a very small town gal and not comfortable driving on big city roads.

We stayed there 2 years ago and had no problem driving our rental car to WDW. It was a short drive--maybe 10 minutes. It's pretty easy to navigate around there. I would suggest doing a mapquest for directions....or get a gps with your rental car to guide you. (We have our own gps and bring it on vacation....makes life much easier!)

GP is very close to WDW the hotel is on Osceola Parkway which takes you straight into WDW and intersects with world drive. I would estimate that MK would be about 5 miles (10 minutes) and the other parks slightly less. I'm not sure but I think you have to pay for the hotel shuttle so it would probably be cheaper to pay the parking fee at the parks. Also, for the convenience I would drive.
Don't worry about the big city roads, I'm from the UK and therefore I'm driving on the wrong (opposite) side of the road when in the USA but I find the driving around WDW no problem at all.
I've never stayed at GP but always eat at the Restaurants as the food is great. It's a lovely place

when GP runs out of parking - guess where they offsite parking is - Pop Century (the unfinished part) at WDW.

turn left out of the resort - then just stay until you see the WDW signs for the parks. (be carefully the left lane disappears and I think the right lane)

to get to the parks it will be a right turn

I agree with the others, it's very close. I think it's closer to MK, than All Stars, or AKL. There are no busy intersections to drive around. It's basically down the road from Pop Century. I find the hardest part of the drive is their parking lot.
