My DH & I are considering a quick trip Memorial Day weekend for our 10th anniverary. The military discount isn't available that weekend (go figure - weekend when you are supposed to honor those that serve and have served), FL resident/AP rates aren't wonderful and we don't want to use points so I'm looking at slightly less expensive lodging than the WDW resorts. Right now the rates at Gaylord Palms are pretty good but I want to make sure that I'm adding all of the extra fees in. The link through DU says that there is a $15/night ($17.12 w/tax) resort fee and then there is a $15/night parking fee and a 1% Osc. Co. fee - is that right? Is the parking fee seperate from the resort fee?

I, personally, would love to stay at the Gaylord Palms but DH doesn't want to stay off property. How can I sell him on GP?

TIA

the palms is great, and not that far by car... the road dead ends into disney world pretty much. I don't recall if $15 is valet parking or regular parking. There is a lot in that hotel to see and do... it could be a distraction from WDW

The rooms are amazing. We spent one night their last summer because we were coming into town for our WDW vacation early and decided to give GP a try. We were blown away and kind of wished we could have spent more nights there. So much to see as Wildeoscar says.:thumbsup2

Thanks! :goodvibes I'm really trying to convince DH that it would actually be ok to go to WDW and not stay on property just this once. Maybe I can persuade him with brownies, cookies or cake?

I really really wanna stay here next time i go to WDW :)

:goodvibes

We stayed for two nights at the Gaylord in Dec. We did have to pay the resort fee and parking also. It was still alot cheaper then Disney for the week-end. Gaylord has so many specials with free upgrades and discounted room the other fees didn't bother us.

I slept in the lobby, next to the alligators... you get a surprisingly good rate when you sleep with the gators
