My DH and I have just purchased our tickets for the ICE display at the Gaylord Palms Resort for the Friday following Thanksgiving---getting our :santa: season started off just right, before checking in at VWL---looking for any information any of you fellow dissers might like to share regarding this event. Thanks!

My family went 2 years ago and it was definitely neat. I thought the tickets were pricey but it put us in the holiday spirit.

Basically you are given this big blue coat (you bring your gloves and hat) although I didn't wear mine. You walk through, take some great pics, and go down the ice slide (even grampa did this one). Its very cool and very COLD!

The hotel is gorgeous and we walked through the little eatery and shops and had a great time. :cool1:

Try to be there right when they open and don't forget your camera.
It is wonderful to walk through, the sculptures are amazing.

Take time to check our Gaylord Palms holiday decorations while you are there..also very nice.

Our family had a great time at ICE. One word of advice is forget the ice skating, a big waste for us. They set it up outside under a white tent and it was just too small and the ice can't stay flat and frozen. We went during a promo to find the 15 gnomes planted around the hotel atrium and restaurants, it was fun. Thats how big this place is. We looked on the website and found coupons for the ICE. So check before you go.

As you can see from above, fun but cold....

Did you also buy the "Fast Pass?: If not, I highly recommend it. We got one last year and the extra cost was well worth it because the standby line was never-ending. The pass you buy gets you in almost immediately.

We went near Christmas of 2006. To be honest, we were not impressed at all. There were 9 of us who went (me, DH, DD who was 2 at the time, my two sisters, my parents, and my grandparents). It costed a lot and it took us about 10 minutes to walk through the whole thing. We will not be going back. Yeah, the sculptures were interesting, but we thought there would be a lot more to it for the price. And the ice skating was a joke.
