I just checked out the photo's on the DIS home page, and this looks amazing!

Can anyone tell me if you have to buy tickets for a specific date, or are they just general tickets and you show up whenever you choose?

Also, how much time would be appropriate to allow for this attraction? It looks like there are a lot of displays, and I would like to see any shows (Lights Alive!, etc). Are these only at specific times throughout the day or evening?

I think we are going to skip MVMCP and do this instead. It looks awesome (and my kids are still considered "kids", since they are under 12!)

We really enjoyed it last year. I think the tickets are for a certain date (but I could be remembering wrong, because we didn't actually get ours until we got there).

As far as the kids go, except for the slides at the end of the attraction, this was more of a grownup activity to me. It was beautiful, and we really enjoyed it, but our party was all adults. The kids that were there seemed to kind of look around quickly and then be ready to rush on to the next room.

One thing that we helped one family with was making a picture for their Christmas card. They posed in front of one of the scuptures (can't remember which one), and they asked DH to take their picture for them (with their camera). I'll bet it turned out to be really cute.

We've done ice the last few years....we normally have dinner at GP and then head down....never had to pre-buy tickets...only a short line outside
it is very pretty but only takes about an hour...Its very cold in there...you get jackets...but guess us Floridians aren’t used to it...so we didn’t stay long...
I went down the slide (had to wait in line)...fun....
Honestly i think young kids would like MVMCP better...ice is more of a look see and move on.....

Does anyone have pictures of "Ice"? This is the first I have heard of this.

Go up and click on the Dis home page. There click on events. Then scroll down to the Christmas section (under the Disney World Holidays), and you'll see the part about ICE! At the end of the paragraph, there's a link to click on to see pictures. :thumbsup2

We attended the party once already, back in 2003. My kids will be 10 & 12 when we go, so they aren't really "young". We will have two other opportunities to enjoy MK, and I really don't think that the party offers enough "different" activities to justify the $170 price for our family. ICE, on the other hand, is something unique and different, and will be a nice activity for one of our non park days.

Where exactly is Ice in relation to Disney and what is the best way to get there? My sister sent pictures of a similar exhibit they went to in Texas last year, and they had a great time.

I'm not sure, but the address for Gaylord Palms is listed as Kissimee, and since we will be staying at Orbit One, which is also in Kissimee (and rumour has it, is only 6 mins from AK), I am guessing that it won't be inconvenient for us to get there. Sounds like it would be relatively close to AK, at least.

I just found this great site about christmas in orlando, it has information about the gaylord palms ICE as well as other things to do for the holidays! christmasinorlando dot :Pinkbounc com It has pictures too. hope this helps.

If you watched A Wedding Story on tlc the other day, a couple had their wedding there. The wedding party wore fake fur coats and the guests had matching blue parkas. It was really prettty. The reception was in a banquet room, however.
