I told some friends I'd ask here for advice about nashville's Gaylord Opryland hotel. They are going for a big convention (dance). They want to know where to request their room be. They don't want to have be in the wing way out in Kentucky, lol, but don't want to be kept up all night due to noise, either. Are rooms in some areas nicer than rooms in other areas (standard, not atrium-view rooms).

Has anyone been here after the floods/renovations? Anyone familiar with this place and can give advice?

I haven't been there since the flood, but I stayed there a few times before. If the convention is actually being held at the hotel (and it probably is), they would be closest to the convention center by staying in the Delta section and requesting a room near the convention center.

I really liked the restaurant there (in the Delta section) for the breakfast buffet. It was wonderful and very relaxing with the "river" winding around it. Magnolia could also work for them depending on what part of the convention center they were in (I would go for Delta personally). The atrium rooms are very nice.

I once had a room that was an atrium room and a few floors above the Jack Daniels restaurant. The noise was awful. They moved me to another room the next day at my request.

The hotel should be gorgeous now. Some of the rooms were starting to show wear and getting a little threadbare before the flood. I'm sure it's beautiful now!

ETA: Here's a link to the layout of the hotel - http://www.gaylordhotels.com/gaylord-opryland/directions-transportation/hotel-map/

thanks horseshowmom!

I will pass that on. I know their event is held right there, but not sure if it's in ballrooms (do they have those?) or in the attached convention center. Are the sections themed differently? Or are they all the same but separated for ease of finding your way around, lol\?

Before they were decorated a little differently in the style of architecture. The Delta area even had a boat you could ride on the "river". The restaurant I mentioned for breakfast was "outdoors" (not really since you're in the domed atrium area) along side the river. I really enjoyed my stays there.

The ballroom areas are part of the convention center area.
