Hi all

Me and My partner of 4 years are getting married in the UK in September. Its been legal here for a while but its taken us this long to save up for the Honeymoon!!!!

We are flying out to New York for 3 nights and then taking the Silver Meteor down to Orlando before embarking on an 11 night funfest at WDW to complete our dream honeymoon. We have booked OKW (couldnt miss out on the jaccuzzi!!) and want to make the most of every minute!!

As this is our first trip to Disney and to Orlando we would really appreciate any tips you may have for cool things to do while we are there!!!

Thanks for all your suggestions!!

James :cheer2:

Wow! that sounds like an amazing trip! I can see why it took so long to save up... it will be totally worth it though!

Im so excited for you. I love taking people to Disney for the first time, watching their reactions is one of my favorite things in life.

edit: I forgot to give you tips! theres just so much, I dont know where to start. Ill wait till everyone goes and then fill in the holes (giggity).

OMG! You sure don't do things by half do you! :teeth:

Things to do? Well, jaysus there's a boatload!

La Nouba? Any interest? Rent water craft, you can do that at OKW. Do a specialty cruise (fireworks for MK or EPCOT). Segway tour of EPCOT or Fort Wilderness. Any number of things at Sammy Duvall's watersports at the Contemporary (parasailing?).

What do you all like to do? Do you want to spend all of your time in the four parks? Are you going to visit other than Disney parks? Will you have your own transport? Are you on the dining plan?

LOADS of questions need answering before we can give you decent advice. ::yes::

Oh, and look out for Wally. He's the one with the horns. :goodvibes

Welcome, by the way! Great to have you join us!

Welcome!

No specific suggestions, but a couple of over-all tips for honeymooning at WDW.

Stop at the front desk of your Disney Resort or at Guest Relations at any theme park and ask for the "Just Married" buttons. You should get some well wishes from cast members and guests alike!

They also make "Groom" Mickey ears. The new ones look kind of lame, but you might still be able to find the Top Hat with Mickey Ears kind. We found them to be hot and not too comfortable (apparently I've got a fat head :rotfl2:) but we wore them a couple times anyway.

Hold hands!

I can't tell you how many gay couples we see holding hands even when Gay Days isn't going on. WDW is a fun, romantic place to share with your loved one, take advantage of that!

And Congratulations!:woohoo:

Hi Guys

Thanks for your replies and best wishes!!

Well to be honest I wasnt that in to disney before I started planning - it was always one of those "would be great to visit - someday" places, but my better half has dreamed of visiting since he was 2!!!

So we made a compromise - I got NYC he got Disney!!

All i can say is - how things change!!! I am now sooooo excited about WDW that Ive reduced the time we are spending in NYC and even added on a coupla extra days in Orlando.

We decided on OKW as it offered us a living space as well as bedroom and seemed more relaxed than some of the other resorts - we also got a dining plan thrown in which is a real bonus as costs are mounting up already!!!

We also decided on a cabin on the train down from NYC (24 hours in a seat wouldnt set us up for the best trip!!) so we shouldnt be hassled as much as if we were flying straight in!! this also means we can grab a cab (and some groceries) to the resort without using magic your way!!

We are both pretty chilled about what we do and when - need to spend time in the waterparks as love, love, love the water!! Thanks for the tip on hiring watercraft as that would be so cool too. We are pretty much into all types of rides and want to make sure we get the best out of all the parks while we are there so looking into extra hours etc.

Food is a biggie for us both (not even my legs are size 0!!) - so ive been making the most of the advanced reservations. We have the hoop de doo booked for our first saturday night there - as well as lots of buffets and character dining (Yes we are both Big kids really!!) but any top tips on places to eat would be cool.

Not sure about doing much stuff outside WDW this time as there is sooo much to do and not sure if we are going to hire a car or not - I cant drive and darren says he is up for it but has never driven on the "other side" before!!!!! we are probably going to see how we go with cabs and the disney bus services and then hrie once we are there if it gets too much.

Will defo look into getting a just married pin as I dont think the hats are for me - as i think i have a fat head too!!! (never been able to find a hat that doesnt sit on my head looking like a kids hat)

Well im about to start work (loving working from home today!!) so will have to sign off for now - but thanks again for all your tips!!

All i have to do now is plan the wedding!!

J :cheer2:

A Nice Dinner at one of the places where you can also see the fireworks - there are many. :lovestruc

Thanks for that guys - thanks to your advise ive managed to get several ADPs for firework views which should be really special. Although asking a Gemini Foodie to pick where they are going to be eating 90 days in advance is impossible!!!hehehe

Ive also looked into some of the activities at the resorts and they rock - my better half loves the idea of parasailing but when i asked him if he fancied watersports on honeymoon - he nearly called the whole thing off!!!

Ive even managed to buckle down the details of the actual wedding - so now i really feel like we are off - having the closest thing to a beach wedding you can have in the UK - brighton seafront hotel!!! - combined with multiple sets of divorced parents is never recipe for laid back but i think we are there!!!

Thanks again for all your great suggestions

J and D :woohoo:

Enjoy the wedding planning. It can be a lot of fun. Don't let it drive you too crazy, and take it from me, don't stress too hard on the small stuff, once the actual day comes around, everything will be great.

Brighton, huh? We've got friends who live near there in Eastborne. We met them at Disney World, as a matter of fact. The best people you'd ever meet.:thumbsup2

Oh yeah - Rob was all easy peaszy light and brezzy! :sad2:

Now why was it we called you "Bridzilla" Rob? :rolleyes1

And in the end, we had a great day and even the stuff that didn't go right wasn't that big of a deal. That's what I'm saying.

Hehehe - lets just say Darren is very easy going and is happy to just turn up on the day so its up to me to get things together - which is fine by my control streak tendancies!!!

Eastbourne is great - much quieter than brighton which we would love but its easier to get to my job in London than it is from there.

I just started reading through your wedding blog and all i can say is that it was inspirational - including lots cool ideas!!!

mmmmmm Bridezilla - is there such a thing as a groomzilla cause i may be it!!!!

J :cheer2:

Didn't you throw the guest book at the flower girls head -
cause she signed in crayon.

Well it's easy for you to say, you're not the one with the emotional scars.

Poor poor Kimberly. :sad2:

Oh what fun!
My #1 tip would be to be at the oparks at opening and enjoy a nice break mid day back at OKW swimming, resting and honeymooning!

Have a blast

No! I did NOT!

We didn't have a flower girl! Or a ring bearer! You read the trip report, do you remember me mentioning either one?

Well it's easy for you to say, you're not the one with the emotional scars.

Hey! You said we could hug it out and let it go. So you can't bring it back up now. And don't accuse me of murdering any more muppets, either!

i hate you . . .

guest book sounds like a good idea - a friend suggested getting a polaroid camera and leaving it next to the book so that people can take a cheesey pic, stick it in and then write next to it....

Although our real neice will kill us we arent having any real flowers - so she would be redundant - going along with the seaside theme we are having a relatively non traditional party - lots of pebbles and fish and chip supper for the meal - couldnt fit flowers in anywhere!!!

and ive just found out that the guy marrying us is gay and his name is Trevor Love - that REALLY rocks!!!

sorry guys im in a loved up mood now!!!
