Gay Disney Vacation members

Never had a hard time as a same sex couple and DVC members. Often have a hard time getting them to copy my name from the ownership list to the guest list without misspelling it, but, I doubt that's connected to being gay.

Being gay DVC members has been a complete non-issue for us. Except that it allows us to have more fun at restaurants with the waiters who are part of the "family".

Ain't it the truth! We actually had one server sit right down at an extra seat and chat with us.

We've been members since 2000 and now have 1725 points across three states and 6 resorts. There's never been an issue with DVC, whether from our guide, with our paperwork or with our visits. WDW is a very accepting place, as long as one acts with respect for the cross-section of the world you'll meet there. No excessive PDAs (whether gay or straight), no offensive language or clothing (I did turn in some straight teenager once wearing a T-shirt that had the Trix rabbit on it and said "Silly ******s, Dix are for Chix - security went after him once I mentioned it) and nothing you would not want the average 6 year old to see.

Have a great time, and welcome to the world of adoption. My partner and I have adopted both of our daughters - wish we could have started sooner and had more kids!

Just wanted to chime in on this thread as a DVC member since 1995.

Val & I aren't gay, but we have a gay daughter who (was) also a DVC member. We never noticed any negative reactions to her and her partner during many, many WDW visits over the years. Both will often wear readily identifiable gay symbols such as the rainbow or HRC logos in the parks without any incidents at all.

So, don't think that DVC is a "straight only" club. We've noticed a lot of apparently gay couples as we walk around the properties, but only because we look for them.

Oh yes, we have had this experience more than once.

What we do find at WDW, that we find really weird, is that gay CMs tend to identify us and we have fun conversations, but, straight CMs seem to assume that my DW is my mother -- yes, she's older, but only 6 years older!

See my user name? LOL. We've been DVC members since '96. Joined when we still lived in the north east and have kept the membership even though we now live within a short drive of WDW! We love having DVC for any number of reasons and with the sole exception of one CM at OKW (Susan from Bayonne NJ, funny how miserable service sticks with you) we've never had a problem with our DVC.

We really enjoy having it and being able to share it with family and friends.

:) DH and I are straight but I love seeing all the diversity around WDW. It makes me so much more comfortable. We see lots of different interracial families and same sex families and they are all having a wonderful time. Congratulations on becoming parents, too. :thumbsup2

It's a great place for L/G people to vacation--one of the reasons I became a DVC member :thumbsup2

My partner and I have been DVC members for about 8 years and have NEVER had an issue with CM or other DVC Members....

In one RARE situation, I arrived for a DVC -DCL Meet and Greet alone and was asked if my wife would be joining me....

"No but my husband will" was my response and a smile was the reply...

Welcome to DVC, you'll love it!

We took the free tour yesterday at DVC & fell in love with it. I'm not working right now & we don't have enough $$$ coming in at the moment to afford it, but we are talking into buying next year. Hopefully I have a job by then. We are only 30 min. away from Disney, but Disney is our second home & we think it's a good investment.

Reading all your reviews makes us want to buy into it even more!!! Our 10 yr old loved it also....when we left she was like "Mom & Mama KK, please buy". Told her we would as soon as Mama KK can get a job.

My husband and I have had an amazing experience being DVC members. We recently stayed at GFV for Gay Days weekend and it was perfect! We are so happy we bought at GF as one of our contracts. We have created a group "GaysofDVC" if anyone wants to connect with other LGBTQI+ DVC Members. Our home resorts are GF, SS & Aluani.
