Hi all,

Being a "newbie" to the site I was pleasantly reminded that Disney has gay days, although I'm not sure if they are sponsored/ acknowledged by them.

My partner and I have recently adopted a 5yr old boy and are coming to Orlando to look into becoming a Disney Vacation member in Dec 2011. We've been to Floriday for many years but I'm sure it'll be more magical with our son (we're uk based). We'll be staying on International Dr but think we'll look to rent some points and have a few days in AK.

Can some of you share your experiences of being gay disney vacation members please? Are they accepting? Is disney outside the gay days quite tolerant/liberal?

Thanks
Paul

There are a TON of gay DVC members, and yes Disney is very accepting to gay guests!

Good luck! :thumbsup2

We have been DVC members since 99 and have been to WDW a few times prior to that - we have never - well once we had a server in Citricos who could not understand.. But other than 1 incident in about 80 nights - never had a problem.

I own in 3 different resorts and in all the times I've stayed at WDW (and it's a lot!!) I've never had a problem. It's been a great purchase for me.

My partner and I have been DVC'ers since 2001 and love it! Have never had a problem with Disney staff. Staff is great! Couple of "looks" from fellow DVC'ers our own age (generational thing, I guess) but that's their problem.

We wonder why we waited so long to buy in! We rented points prior to buying in. I think you'll love the space.

Congrats on becoming new parents, too!

I'm so glad to hear these positive comments. I work with a woman who did indeed run into problems with staff regarding her DVC. I'm not a DVC member but I keep telling her I think it's a aberation from the norm. She's been a member for years but the last time she went was about 5 years ago when she ran into the problem. It left a bad taste in her mouth and she's used her points for other vacations.

Being gay DVC members has been a complete non-issue for us. Except that it allows us to have more fun at restaurants with the waiters who are part of the "family".

And if anyone would take issue with anyone- it would be Saxton for sure.

Hey, I'm deeply hurt (slightly miffed? annoyed? ok, laughing)! Go back to playing with your Hello Kitty stuff and leave me alone.

In all seriousness though OP, while hubby and I are not a gay couple we have not noticed anything... and remember a large chunk of the CM pool is part of the 'family'. I've always found Disney to be a welcoming place :)

Enjoy yourself and if anybody has issue it's their problem not yours :)

Did you just instruct me to go play with my pu$$y!

Where did i go?
Did I like where I was?
Was the food good?
Did I get layed?

I may or may not have employed that defense to cut down my numbers....
