I'm not sure how the hotel can tell if you are part of the event or not. I booked the long weekend (the Federal Government has 10/8 off) and just so happened to stumble on the GD rates. I got GCH for $225/night from 10/5 to 10/8, which I think are very good rates for the GCH.
Our friend had a problem with another convention as well. They went ahead and booked it for 4 and then called the convention group reservation and they added on the 5th person. Once you book it you will get the confirmation email with the phone number. Hope this helped
is that true for buying the online convention price parkhoppers as well? i understand they are date restricted, but we will be there oct 7-9 so theoretically it would work for us if there's no other requirements.

No, you don't need to show anything for the convention tix. It's just not an advertised public thing, the link is created for each individual convention event. The Gay Days convention rates have been posted here for years, so if you happen to be going that same time it hasn't been an issue in the past to use them.
We already have a lovely offsite hotel booked and paid up for 7 nights, BUT we've never stayed onsite before and with rates this amazing we MIGHT just splurge for one night and stay at the GCH!! It's a very special honeymoon/birthday trip for us and it would really make it an extra special experience with a GCH stay! hmmm....how to convince the hubby that an extra $225 is necessary...lol
