gay couples on Disney Cruise

So basically you are recommending we show up on our first night to the table carrying a quart of Jack Daniels and scare the living bejeezus out of the table mates and trick THEM into changing their dining assignment?

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!! :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

I really hope we meet up some day!!!

I've browsed these boards before, but I am brand new to any kind of posting forums like this, so not exactly sure of all the "etiquette". But my boyfriend and I have done 2 Disney Cruises and everyone and everything about it was great. At Palo they brought us out a special chocolate plate that said "Happy Anniversary" on it. Not only did the staff make us feel special, but even tables around us commented with "Congratulations" and such. We had no bad experience. And of course, we felt we were actually treated better than many, especially by the gay staff. We are booked already for the Eastbound Transatlantic in May. Any other gay couples going on that cruise by chance?

I'm glad to hear this. I had heard that DCL was more gay-positive than Disney's theme parks and resorts are in some regards. We are taking our first Disney cruise in about a month (4 night Bahamas), our next one this December for our 8th anniversary (7 night western Carib), and are thinking of booking the 15-night westbound Panama Canal crossing for May 2008!

I would have loved to do one of the transatlantic crossings, but they didn't work for us schedule-wise. I am sure you guys will have an awesome time.

You will love the Panama Canal Cruise. We did the eastbound in 2005 and loved it. We met several other gay couples on board and have on every Disney cruise we have taken(5). We are doing a 10 night Med. in August and are considering one of the repo cruises through the canal again since the ports are different.

Yay. I am getting SO excited. :)

More gay-positive? You mean there are straight people working the resorts? Or do you mean the guests?

LOL j/k by the way :)

Thank you for the welcome, and how fun for this newbie to see several replies already to my post! We also will be on the Westbound Panama Crossing. Not booked yet because you get excellent deals when booking while onboard, so we will be booking that on the Transatlantic in May. Well, cool, then maybe we'll see some of y'all on that one in '08!!

We are planning on doing the Panama Canal westbound, that is if our TA can get us the cabin we want. We going in the fall on a 4-night and will be celebrating our 20th anniversary.

This is awesome...so far that's 3 or 4 couples from this board who may be on the westbound Panama Canal cruise! Party in our suite! :)

Yeah, I'm getting jealous! I'd love to be able to join you all but it's unlikely.

Make that 5! We are seriously looking at booking the Westbound PC (90% sure we'll do it). We went in 2005 and had a wonderful time (minus the trading pin fiasco) and look forward to a repeat. We will then tack on a few days at Disneyland and take 3 full weeks off from work! (I just heard my boss screaming, how odd :lmao: ).

Once bookings open, and we all determine who may/may not be going, maybe we can get fresh thread going on this board versus the ones on the Cruise board.

The only thing that may be a rub for us for the westbound Panama Canal cruise is the number of days, 15. It's something we really want to do.

I would also love to go to Disneyland afterwards, but am not sure I can squeeze in another couple of days of vacation.

I sort of wish this was a 10 day cruise just so I could easily fit in DL.

Be careful. The prices tend to go up as more people book and by May the price could be significantly higher, even with the deals when booking on board. We are planning on booking on Jan 31 and seeing if we get a better deal while on board later.

Thanks for the advice. Then we'll book Jan 31. When things are confirmed and there's another thread going regarding this, can someone please let me know and send a link? I'm VERY new to all this posting and reading and finding threads. Thank you!

Yes. I even started a thread dedicated to it on this board.

Yes, I found the thread but there is one small problem. I am cruising in August on the Eastbound and you are cruising in May on the Westbound. So might I ask again is there anyone else out there that booked the Eastbound Repo cruise in August of 08. I would love to chat. It is myself and my Partner of over 19 year. We will be celebrating our 21 anniversary on this cruise. Lois

Ooops ! Point well taken. I hope you find some other folks on the eastbound. I know that there are quite a few "family" members on the westbound.

We looked at it but unfortunately decided that we couldn't afford it this time--we're hoping for another chance in 2010.

Sorry you are not joining us. Hopefully there will be more cruises like this. If there is any truth to the rumors about a 3rd ship they may become an annual thing. Who Knows? Lois
