Gay and single at WDW

Who did you march with? Glassmen and Cadets here.....but beware, the GARFIELD Cadets....old man here! :lmao:

If you do some digging you will find other DCI'ers on here, including Tyler who is currently on the road with the Bluecoats.

I marched Cadets as well, but in the early 90s. I participated in the "....of Bergen County" era, which was their 400th name change, I believe. :) I'm a big fan of Garfield. They had some of the most incredible shows throughout the 80s.

Unfortunately, I haven't seen the Glassmen perform for about 5 or 6 years.

Thank you for welcoming me, guys. I'm liking this site. :cloud9:

OMG your an alum of the Cadets?

OK everyon pardon us for just a few minutes...

Hmmmmm

Oh Holy Name, Thy Holy name.....thy name shall be eternally.....:rolleyes1

I'm going to finals this year, it's killing me financially, but I squeezed a trip to Disneyland and Knotts in, and still have two free days.

What did you do? I was a sop, marched next to "Goober" who now goes by Al Chez and is the trumpet player for the Letterman show. What years did you march? 81 here.

I marched bari in 93......and that was it. :lmao: I loved the experience, but having diabetes made it a little difficult for me at such a young age, so one season was enough. Now I'm involved the color guard activity. :woohoo: I know....it's an odd transition.

I loved that show, my only complaint was the way the guard acted the night of finals during their victory show. Put me off a little, but you beat $ of Indiana, so that was good enough for me! What did you do?

Ohhhh yeah. Some of the instructors weren't too thrilled either, but they seemed to let it go. I was almost nailed with one of the flags during a pass-through.....and I think one of the tenors got hit in the shako. :sad2:

That year Star had an unbelievable show. Watching them do runthroughs was really intimidating, and I was in total awe of them. I had never heard anything as powerful as that show. I've heard lots of people say that Star should've won......and I'm not so sure I disagree with them. :rolleyes1

sorry to interupt, but...

YOU MARCHED "IN THE SPRINGTIME...."????????

One of my top 5 favorite shows EVER!!!! I really hated Garfield after they stole the rings from SCV in 1987 in Madison! :) But that show, To Tame the Perilous Sky's, and the Les Mis show never fail to make me smile!

OK, I return you from my ranting to your regularly scheduled discussion.

I wish some of the corps were marching at Disneyland during finals week. How sweet would that be!?

That makes me so happy. Thank you. I won't go into detail, but Cadets 87 is one of my top-10 favorite shows ever....so I'll be quiet for now. :lmao:

Skip this next part if you don't wanna be bored with the history of how/why I joined, and my involvement with DC and CG.... LOL

DC:
I joined them on a dare. In high school I had a friend who marched Glassmen, and another who marched Phantom, and they both said, "You should march drum corps. You'll love it. C'mon, we dare you!" To be honest, at that point I had only seen about 10 or 12 DC shows, most of which were on TV. I loved watching them, but never thought I had what it takes to do it. So I asked my band director to help me out a little with lessons, etc. because he used to march drum corps as well. Back then I had only seen The Cadets' 1991 show, and had no idea that they had moved up to 2nd place in 1992. I kinda chose this corps because I thought to myself, "It'd be awesome to be in a Top-6 corps, but I'd rather not go through all the stress and insane practicing that a Top-3 corps goes through due to my diabetes. And soooo.....I basically chose Cadets based on what I saw from their 1991 show. After seeing this show I thought, "They'd never make the Top-3." :lmao: I have absolutely no regrets. It was an amazing time, and I loved being able to do it. Definitely a huge highlight in my life.

CG:
After marching DC, and being introduced to such an interesting color guard (in my opinion) I started wanting to participate in the color guard activity. A couple years later when I went to college I went to try out for the winterguard called Onyx (whom I believe was only in Independant Open class back then). However, at the time I was the only male who went to auditions, and the people there weren't very nice to me, so I left the audition half-way through. (That was a mistake. They took 3rd in their class at WGI Finals. :lmao: ) Anyhoo....for the past 6 or 7 years I've been a member of a couple small independant guards that perform at Pride events, etc. But this year is different: I'll be helping a couple freinds start their own Independant World guard, which allows any age group to audition, which I'm extremely excited about.

*whew*
Sorry for the long-windedness. :rolleyes1

Now that's funny! The thought of Hoppy having a stress free tour! :lmao:

We praticed while others went to 6 flags, did laundry, and toured the country!

I swear that man could start a sectional at a truck stop in 5 minutes flat while they fixed a bus!

*Zzzzzzzips his lip*
:lmao:

I never minded practicing. It was the fact that the our show kept changing every 4-6 minutes that frustrated me.

But....yeah....you're right. :)

I feel so out of the loop....hmmm I once dated a drum corps guy...and I like roller coasters. Does that help? :rotfl2:

Club Jersey??? Is that one of those theme bars on Paradise Island? :rotfl2:

LOL! I bet you could start a thread on the CB and all the girls would go flocking to it. They all love Tim over there :hippie:

Welcome to the club Jersey!:cool1:

Gosh, I didn't even prepare a speech...Hmmm...I'd like to thank Anderson Cooper first...;)

:lmao: The theme of the Jersey Shore guidos is that dance song "Pump it up" that gets stuck in your head. That'll play over and over again at the bar.

Should that be the title of the drinking thread today? :lmao:
