Gave Tony's a 2nd try.....and!!!!!!!

After eating at Tony's just ONCE, i vowed NEVER EVER to return there again. The food really was that bad. Inedible. (and yes we too ordered the chicken parm and spag/meatballs). But after reading your review, I just might reconsider going there again. Not for my upcoming trip, but maybe the next one. Thank you! :)

I'm with you on this one and after two visits I swore I would never walk through the threshold of Tony's again. So far it's been 7 years and counting. This is the second review I have read about Tony's being much better and I'll admit, I'm a bit curious. I'll have to keep reading some consistently positive reviews before I decide not to hop on the monorail and dine at one of the restaurants at the CR or GF (I hate BOG). But if they keep coming, then I also will have to give it one more try. :earsboy:

I'll be eating there the end of Jan. Strictly because of the favorable reviews lately. I'll report back!

Our Ratings of Tony's Town Square: (*rev 10/14/2018*)
. . . food price value: C
. . . food quality: C
. . . food quantity per serving: C
. . . food prep speed: B
. . . food selection: C
. . . seating quantity: C
. . . seating comfort: C
. . . eatery atmosphere: B
. . . eatery convenience: A
. . . staff friendliness: B
. . . staff attentiveness: D
. . . character interaction: n/a
.
Our Recommendations:
. . . appys:... Eggplant Involtini
. . . entree:.. House-made Gnocchi Primavera with Grilled Chicken Breast
. . . dessert:. Tiramisu
.
NOTE1: The staff is usually friendly, but not very attentive to guest needs. The eatery atmosphere is pleasant. The food is not something to write home about. Meats seem to be reheated or microwaved from frozen, and are average for the Italian entrées. In a hunger-pinch, Tony's might do, but there are far better choices.
.
NOTE2:The eatery has gotten a new chef (THANK GOODNESS!), and the food quality has improved with Chef Katie. I now rate the Qualty Level a "C" instead of my past "D" rating, but service still is lacking.

DH and I have not eaten at Tony's for many years because of the bad reviews. What I am hearing is very good news. I just booked Tony's for our Valentine's Day lunch. Keeping my fingers crossed for a wonderful meal on a special romantic day :)

We booked for our holiday trip. Fingers crossed here as well that we're not too disappointed. Tony's has so much nostalgia for us. I wish more people could have experienced it as we did - back in the '80s.

No offense I don't think I can even give Tony's a 1st chance. Some many bad reviews and to me honestly how can you not cook Italian food correctly? I would love to give it a try but I think I will try Skipper canteen instead.

Please post your opinion after your visit. We also know Tony's from back in the day when it was sooooo good. I still have time to change our V-day lunch but I would love for Tony's to regain it's quality from the old days :)

Funny thing was I tried Skipper's last year after hearing so many great reviews and was disappointed. I must have hit an off night - the food was lukewarm, overcooked and just not what i was expecting at all. And lest anyone thinks I'm picky - I'm the opposite of a foodie! I like pretty much everything - from cheap eats to nicer chains, mom and pops - it's rare that I don't like a meal. This one was just a fail. Hopefully you have better luck.

Me too. Don't get me wrong, I love Italian food but I am not certain I would rather have it over Skipper Canteen. I like trying new places and experiences. There is a small part of me that's what to try Tony's. I am not just so sure at this point. I still have a few months to go.

I hear you...you'll likely have a better dinner at SC. Honestly, if my husband and I didn't have so many nostalgic memories of Tony's, we'd probably be eating out of the park or at a QS this trip. We're spoiled with dozens of extraordinary Northern and Southern Italian style restaurants all within just a few square miles of where we live. Even in the '80s as good as it was, Tony's couldn't compare to what we have in our area.

I adore the place simply for all the memories it holds. My expectations going in are low :) I just want decent food.

There are a few places at Disney I went in with low expectations and came away surprised. I heard negative remarks about H'wood Brown Derby. When I ate there last April, I went in with low expectations. I would have to say it was one of the best places ever to eat on WDW property. Best pork chops and service I ever had! Yak and Yeti CS also really good. Sometimes some places just have off nights. With Tony's its like you said there are better places close by in my area that are just as good, also way cheaper lol

I'm glad it's better, but until I get my money back from last time (not holding my breath obviously) I'll continue to pass. That it ever served such inedible food at any price, let alone Disney theme park pricing, is shameful to put it mildly. Maybe I'll give it another try when new top level management (CEO level) comes in that doesn't mock and scam customers so badly. But for now, best for me to stick with places that don't make me angry just to walk past.

We decided last minute to add another MK day at the end of our trip coming up in a few weeks so it was slim pickings for dining. Got a 2:00 for Tony’s. Is it possible to request a table to see the parade? Good to know it’s not horrible like I’ve heard!

Yes exactly me too. There has to be consistently awesome reviews for me to give it another go. After some thought, and some reading, most likely wont be trying it on the next trip. Sorry, it really was that bad.
