I know there was a thread a little while ago about the inter-terminal monorail being close but I can't find it now :confused3

Anyway I have found that it is now on the BAA Gatwick website:
Terminal transit update

We are installing a new inter-terminal transit system at Gatwick Airport as part of our £1 billion investment programme.

From 28 September 2009 until May 2010, a replacement bus service will operate between Gatwick's North and South Terminals. The service will depart from the upper forecourt of both terminals every three minutes during the day (04.00 to 18.00) and every six minutes at night. Please allow 20 minutes to transfer between terminals during this period. As the transit stations will be closed, access between South Terminal and local buses will be via alternative routes.

The existing transit was opened in 1987 and has now completed more than two and a half million miles - that's the equivalent of five trips to the moon and back!

Looks like those of travelling in September will be lucky after all!
