Hi

Has anyone used the Europa hotel ? If so, what's it like ?

2 DDs are 13 & 11 and hate using z beds etc. I usually get chucked onto the z bed which means I have to drink twice as many pints the night before to get to sleep !!!

The Europa was the only one that ABC Holiday Extras could give me that had a "double" sofa to go with the double bed.

Price was OK at £65 but would be willing to pay more if I could get a double and 2 single beds, i.e. 4 real beds.

Lots of threads about the Hilton - does anyone know if it has the type of room I'm looking for ?

Why don't UK "family" rooms have 2 double beds like in the USA ????

Hi Gary:wave:

We've stayed at both hotels, Europa was in 1999, Hilton this year.
I think Europa was 1 double bed with sofa bed for the kids (so they would have to share the sofa bed):D
Also Europa is quite far from the airport(6 miles), we only had a triple room at Hilton but they do do family rooms it's worth having a look at their web site www.hilton.co.uk, they'r a bit more expensive but i'm sure you can get a better deal through another cheap hotel site:D Hilton is great if you want to do a twilight check in with Virgin or BA, dont know who you are flying with:D
Hilton was great for eating out and shopping, it keeps the rug rats occupied! and is right on the door step of your hotel;) If you need any more info just shout!:wave2:

I think that le meridien hotel (North Terminal connected by monorail) has family rooms which will have proper beds.

le meridien/Hilton are more expensive but are on site (they both have swimming pools)

We stayed at the Hilton in 2002 & 2003 and had two double beds both times, DD loved it!!!

Things have changed quite a lot at the Hilton since the opening of the new wing. I was disappointed to see that the pool has closed.

The Hilton has (had?) available family rooms with one double and two single beds. These are not available on Hilton's own web site (very strange but they never have been) but are still bookable on the ABC Holiday Extras site. If you want a fun experience, ask for one overlooking the atrium (assuming they're still there !).

Expect to pay around £160 for a family room including 2 weeks car parking. Can't beat the convenience though if you're travelling from the South Terminal.

Thanks to all that replied. Flying with BA so don't if this makes a difference to the North/South terminal question.

haven't flown from Gatwick to Orlando before. Only Newcastle and Manchester.

Garry

Have you considered le-meriedien at the North Terminal?

We will be staying there Friday and we are flying BA.

If it helps at all I've stayed at both the Hilton and Le Meridien and I think the latter wins hands down. We stay there every time now, even though it's North and we usually fly from the South Terminal.

Last year we stayed in a family room at Le Meridien, because there were five of us.

We had a smashing sort of L shaped room with one double two proper single beds and a pull out sofa thingy. It was excellent.

This year as there were only 3 of us we had a triple which was a double and a sofa bed ( a double so could accommodate two people)

Next year we will be 4 travelling and will be staying at the Hilton because it came out cheaper on HolidayXtra. We do not do the parking thing as we prefer not to drive home after the long flight home

Hi Penny - could you say why you find Le Meridien so much better please. I just checked the prices on ABC Holiday Extras for our departure date next March and Hilton is £159 including car park for a family room, Le Meridien £228 so I'm wondering if it is worth the extra.

Thanks !
