Gatwick Hilton ??

Hello trying to plan our next trip to sunny Florida down side is it's not until August 07!!!
Anyway as we are in Cornwall we thought we would come up the night before and stay at the Hilton, we are planning on using our Tescos vouchers.
Have just got of the phone with a very nice lady and understand that we will have to wait until August this year to make sure that Tescos are still using the Hilton etc.
Anyway we have put a hold on a family room with the option of cancelling with no loss to our selves if the deal changes.
My question is what is the hotel like?
I have been onto their website and the rooms look lovely etc, but have any of you experienced it first hand?
Is there a pool?
Do any of you have any info on the room service menu?

The Gatwick Hilton is one of the better airport hotels (though none are particularly great). Some people prefer the Le Meridien but I don't think there is anything in it, and the Hilton has the advantage of being so close to the South Terminal. In fact, the best benefit for us is the fact that it has the connecting covered walkway which takes you straight to the South Terminal.

There is no longer a pool but you are just a short 5 minute walk from the terminal which obviously offers lots of shops and restaurants. There is a fitness centre. I don't think we have ordered from the room service here before, so I can't help with that. We usually head over to the terminal and go to Pizza Express or somewhere else for dinner.

The family rooms are very spacious. We usually get one with two queen size beds plus a double sofa bed. Occasionaly we have had one with a queen, two singles and a double sofa bed, though.

Being so close to the airport will obviously give us more choice when it comes to feeding the kids and also killing a bit of time.

The Gatwick Hilton is a nice hotel and very convenient for the terminal. Did you get any indication of how much it might be (in Deals tokens)? We are looking to do this in October.

I'm afraid we stayed there in September and thought it ghastly. The room was dirty, the bedding torn, thre bathroom ful of mould BUT it had a good restaurant which had reopened that day after refurbishment. Le Meridian(Sofitel) was so much better and only about £20 more.

we have stayed at both Meridien (sofitel) and Hilton Many times. I used to prefer the Meridien although there was never much in it. I now prefer the Hilton as they have a lovely brand new restaurant which is either menu or carvery. We had a family room in October and it was very clean, maybe the other poster was unlucky (altough obviously this is unacceptable).
If you are going on Virgin you go via the south terminal, which is attatched to the Hilton so it saves you having to take the terminal transit over.
We are going to the Hilton tomorrow for the start of our holiday, if anything has changed i will let you know x

hi stayed at the hilton a few years ago. It was vry nice and clean and a lovely restaurant. The location is great and so was the transport service to the airport.

We stayed at the Hilton in December. The family room we had was fine. This was the 3rd time we have stayed there prior to flights to Orlando and all the rooms we have had in the past have been fine.

Never eaten in the Hotel because the terminal is so handy.
