We are looking at getting the train to Gatwick this time instead of a taxi.
The taxi prices here have gone up and its now £200 return for us to get to Gatwick this way.

The price of the return tickets on the train is £96 for all 4 of us. We can get a lift to and from the train station and the train goes direct from there to Gatwick - takes about 1hr 10mins as opposed to nearly 2 hours in the car.

But i dont know where the train arrives in Gatwick? Can anyone help? We will be staying at the hilton the night before so i need to know how to get there lol! :goodvibes

Can anyone help?

Its been a few years since I last used the train to Gatwick but I know it comes out in the South Terminal which is where the Hilton is.

Claire ;)

Been a while since we used the train but seem to remember only one stop at Gatwick. When you get off the train just follow the signs, we may have to use train this year as well as luggage allowance on domestic flight is no good.

Here is a map it looks like the entrance from the train station comes in at around zone J & K.

Excellent thanks! I was looking for a map but couldnt seem to find one? must have been having a blonde moment!!

Hey Laura.

We are getting the train this time too!!! we usually take the car but we decided we would have a change and take the train and it only cost us £31 each from Swansea! the petrol alone cost us that.

When you get off the train you get on the escalator and it takes you up to just outside the check-in entrance in the south terminal, it's a breeze.

We are staying at the Sofitel cause it was £10 cheaper than the hilton. :goodvibes

Only 3 weeks Friday!!

Sam

Ps. Still waiting for my email :sad1:

First Capital Connect did a 'Flyaway' ticket for £55.00 last year. Covers upto 4 adults (I think extra kids can be added quite cheaply). The return journey had to be within 1 month. We used last year - We are on Bedford to Brighton line (not sure which line you're on). Station is easy - not far to walk at all (nearer than car-park!).

Yes, St Albans is the Bedford to Brighton line, so if they are doing ticket again you should be OK.:thumbsup2
