Hi DS and I have just persuaded DH to let us stay at the airport the night before we fly. Yay! Do any of you knowledgeable people know if you can walk from premier inn (north terminal) to the terminal building? It says walking distance on the website, but I'm not clear how far / how easy the walk is and what alternatives there are.

Also I'm assuming that I will be able to check the bags in with BA that night. I know we will print boarding passes at home the day before, but it would be great if someone knows if we can check the bags the night before too.

TIA

Stayed at premier inn a few years ago. Great choice for the price, clean rooms, nice bar and at the time great staff. Its very walkable, about five/Ten minutes (depending on how fast you walk). Up the road to roundabout then sharp right into north terminal. It was a building site when walked it but think its a car park now so should be easy to walk through and then up into the terminal.

You can catch a bus but its £3 per person I think and goes to south terminal first so takes a while. So unless its raining I would walk.

BA offers day before check in, from midday I believehttp://www.gatwickairport.com/check-in/day-before/

Have a good one

Thanks. As far as I can tell BA check in is between 4.00 and 10pm for day before check in. And we've booked Premier Inn, which I think is really new, so may be even closer than the one you stayed at. Trip adviser reviews say 1 - 2 mins across the road. Perhaps it was part of the building site you saw!! - check it out next time you go. We booked a room for 4 for £45 (cheaper than the cab we'd get if we went in the morning!). Thanks for your reply :)

We dropped somebody off at the North Terminal yesterday and the Premier Inn was on the right of the drop off area so just across the road to the terminal!

Cool! Thanks

We stayed there a couple of weeks ago before our skiing trip and it was very handy - literally across the road from the terminal.
The hotel was very nice - the only problem being the lack of lifts. The reception is on the first floor and there were a lot of people arriving when we did and everyone was having to wait for the lifts from the entrance on the ground floor and then checking in and waiting for the same lifts up to the rooms. I was sat in reception for a while waiting for others to arrive and was watching and it got crazy busy round the lifts with people trying to exit them with lots of luggage while people were waiting to get in them with loads of luggage as well.
