Hello,

We are thinking of going to Gatlinburg for the first time and I was overwhelmed with trying to find a family friendly budget friendly clean place to stay. I came across the Inn at Christmas place and it looks soooo magical. I would love to stay there but it looks expensive and very big. Is it an overwhelming place or easy for a family to come and go in.

Has anyone stayed here before? I'd love to hear about your stay and the cost. There will be 3 of us and my daughter is 6. We will be doing all the fun things around town like Ripleys etc.

We were thinking of going in April either the week before or after Easter. Is thata a good time for low crowds or should we space further away than Easter?

Thanks :)
Shelly

We went there in August. Hotel rooms are hard for us because we have 3 kids and always end up bringing some friends. We rented a cabin from cabins usa. It was beautiful and huge! And no more than the price of a hotel room. Everyone had there own space, multiple bathrooms, decks, hot tubs, washer and dryer, full kitchen, etc. We rented one that was right off the main strip and had a resort pool. Would so do it again. Make sure you check out the Titanic Museum. All the kids and adults loved it. Have fun.

We like Hidden Mountain Cabin Rental When we stay in Pigeon Forge. Very nice for our family of four.

Any place you go during March or April is going to be jammed with ppl. It is Spring break time all over the country.

We stayed in a real nice room with the most comfortable hotel bed I have ever slept in.

Now don't say OH NO because it is a Best Western. They are super nice rooms. It is a small resort with creeks running outside of the balconies. Their FREE little continental breakfast is a joke but the rooms were amazing and less than $150 a night.

Now we had a room with a King bed so I can't testify that rooms with 2 beds have those soft comfy amazing beds like what we had, but this hotel is RIGHT at the beginning of the main drag/road going into downtown Gatlinburg on your left. I had to set my GPS to find it because there are SO MANY motels and hotels along that road you can blink and miss it. And just turning around is not very easy once you get downtown. It is crowded with cars and ppl and the roads OFF the main drag can get you turned around.

But we had the best pancakes in the world, twice, in Gatlinburg. They have a pancake house every few blocks.

Also we ate at a place that was suppose to be a BBQ place but was more like steak house.

CALHOUN'S RESTAURANT
1004 Parkway, Gatlinburg, TN 37738

Award winning barbequed baby back ribs. Other specialties include steaks, prime rib, grilled chicken, barbeque, catfish, salads and sandwiches. Open-air, heated patio, full service bar. Banquets and catering, meeting rooms. Kid's menu.

I only had a baked potato and salad but my husband said the steak he had was one of the best he has ever had. SO we went back and ate there 2 days in a row. If you get a Ceasar salad ask for extra croutons. They are homemade and soft, and nom-nom-y. They are right across the street from the little building you go into to get up the mountain. It is on the left hand side of the road. There is a public parking lot right near it on the right hand side of the road.

There are very few public parking lots on the main drag of Gatlinburg (downtown) so go almost to the end of the main drag then start looking to your right and park in that last parking lot on your right. Then you can walk down one side of the road all the way downtown, then walk back up the other side and end up back at your car. And right at this restaurant.

We plan on going back to Gatlinburg next Spring. We were going to go sooner but we ended up taking 2 Disney vacations within 4 months and are going back in October so we are all vacationed out right now.

Hope you have a great trip.

P.S- I have never seen or heard of that Christmas hotel you are asking about so I am of no help there.

Hi, Shelly! I've been to Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge two years in a row for Spring break (April). It will be busy but not "Disney Spring Break" busy. A word of caution though. The reasonable hotels in Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg do not have the best reputation as far as cleanliness. I've never stayed at the Christmas Inn but I have been to the shop. It was dated but still pretty to visit with all of the Christmas ornaments, trees and lights. However, I do not believe I would stay at the hotel because of the condition of the Christmas shop. Let me suggest the Springhill Suites @ Pigeon Forge which is right across the street from the Inn at Christmas and is a new suite hotel. You will also be close to the Apple Cider Mill and shop and the Old Mill Restaurants which are the best in town. You could walk to the Titanic and everything else in Pigeon Forge.

If you want to stay in Gatlinburg closer to the Ripley's Aquarium, Haunted House and other Ripley's places, I strongly recommend the Hilton Garden Inn at Gatlinburg on River Road. It is very very clean and is within walking distance to everything in Gatlinburg. There is also a trolley stop in the front of the hotel. It is not on the main strip in Gatlinburg so it is very quiet in the evening.

Have a great time!:cheer2:

My sister took my boys to Gatlinburg a few years ago, and made reservations at Wilderness at the Smokies (the new waterpark hotel). They hated it so bad that they left after one night, with no new hotel to stay in. They somehow made it to the Christmas hotel, and fell in love. They spent the next few nights there, and have talked about how they all want to go back to Dollywood and stay at the Christmas hotel again. I don't know about price - they have plenty of $, and paid for the Christmas hotel and the room at the Wilderness at the Smokies at the same time. They said the Christmas hotel was magical - and we are all big Disney lovers - so there must be something special there!

We went to Pigeon Forge two years ago for Spring Break and stayed at the Inn at Christmas Place. It was wonderful!! My son still talks about it.

It was one of the cleanest hotels I have ever been in and the staff was so friendly. I remember the beds being very comfortable as well. The Christmas decorations are beautiful as well. (We love Christmas though!)

We spent a lot of time in the hotel on our trip to take advantage of the activities. There are two pools (one outdoor with a slide and one indoors). They have a singing Santa concert one night, Breakfast with Santa, storytime for the children, and cookies/milk/coffee every evening.

The price includes breakfast (at least it did when we went), so I think it is a good price. The breakfast included an omelet station and many hot food items.

I don't think you will be disappointed staying at the Inn. :)

We were there last year and it was really nice and CLEAN and pricey! Of course it was new as well, but several of our favorite places to stay have gone to the dogs, so clean and nice is a priority! It is pricey and it was July so we were not really in the mood for Christmas. At the time we inquired, Christmas was booked a year in advance and 4 times more expensive.

My best friend went there last year and she just raved about it. Said it was so nice and the staff was so friendly and she just loved the place. I've not stayed there but I trust her opinion :)

We stayed at the Quality Inn by Dollywood Lane in Pigeon Forge in Dec. It was the cleanest motel we have ever stayed in. It was very well maintained and they had a great free breakfast including eggs, waffles, pastrys, toast, biscuits and gravy, etc. The price was low also.

We stayed at the Inn at Christmas Place several years ago and I loved it. The decor was beautiful and it was very clean. We only stayed one night because we were driving to another state, so we did not get to spend much time in the hotel to take advantage of the amenities.
The last time we went we decided to try out a cabin and now I would probably only get a cabin unless I was only staying one or two nights.

We stayed there last year during our spring break 3rd week of March. Had a coupon and ended up staying 4 nights for 79.00/night. Was very happy with cost and cleanliness. Nothing bad to say about this hotel at all!

Not sure I agree with you on this. I live in the area and we all leave town for Spring breaks. The weather is too unpredictable here in March. Dollywood doesn't open until around the end of the month. Lots of other things are closed or on limited schedules.

April is nice here, but the weather can still be mixed.
