Has anyone used Gate 1 Travel with kids? We are thinking about the National Parks tour. Thanks!

I am curious as well. I often see a trip to Israel offered on travelzoo and through Gate 1

We (mom, dad, and 15 yr.old daughter) traveled with National Geographic this past summer to Yellowstone and Grand Tetons with their family travel company. It was fantastic. One of our best trips. Check them out just to compare.

We have done several trips with Gate 1. The most recent was in June and it was the 13 days Western Canada tour. It was a great trip as were the others we have done with them. It started in Calgary and ended 13 days later in Vancouver. We have also done Costa Rica, Southeast Asia and Peru. Friends have done these too and also Africa and Ecuador. We have also done Adventures by Disney and enjoyed them as well. If you sign up for the weekly specials they will send you about 10 each week and generally take off $200 - $400 a person. You can also add pre and post days. I like that you can just do land or can add air and look at flights available. I like to know and pick departure times. Also they do a small down payment with the final payment do about 45 days ahead of trip. And if you pay by check they give you another 5% off.

Judyat, in looking at the Gate 1 website, it doesn't look like they have specific family trips. Is that correct? If not, did you find a mix of age ranges on the trips you have done? We prefer a small group and don't need lots of kids, but I wouldn't want my teens (by the time we would take one of these trips, probably to Africa) to be the youngest by decades.

We have been on several gate 1 trips, to jordan and Egypt, Peru and the Gallapidos, China, Vietnam and Cambodia and Poland and a Danube cruise. All of have been great and I would hghly recommend. However never have we had one person younger than 35 on a trip. I have never looked to see if they have family trips, but I suppose they could. . For the price, they offer great guides, decent accommodations, nice itinerary, etc.

I'm guessing you would see more kids in the summer. We usually do trips while most kids are in school. I don't remember seeing any specific family trips at Gate 1. You can call them but I don't think they can say whether kids would be on specific trips. We are retired but took lots of trips with our kids years ago. We didn't really care if they had other kids or not. We had a good time whether there were other kids or not on it. For the money they are a good deal. I agree with cedricandsophie they offer great guides, decent accommodations that you can see ahead and a map shows where they are located. And the itinerary also shows what's included. We have looked and compared prices with many other companies and Gate 1 always comes out on top for us.
