Gastroenteritis?

Anyone had any experiences of this?
DD who is 4 fell very poorly friday morning (2am), vomiting non stop, she was last sick lastnight but now we are onto the other end...(sorry to sound so vulgar ), I have spoken to NHS Direct/ Emergency (local) DR and she did see her Dr on friday, they said she had Gastroenteritis.
And there is nothing they can do... I was just wondering if anyone experienced it, and how long it lasted?
She has managed to keep down 4spoonfuls of food, and drink, as the past few days everything has come up, even calpol, etc.
She is pale and shes had enough.. I just feel like I'm no help.

This has happened to me and my son a few times. It's absolutely miserable and you're just going to have to wait for it to pass. She really ought to be checked to see if she's getting too dehydrated. I felt a whole lot better when they hooked me up to an IV and gave me fluids.

Yes, I can remember when my 2 were small - it's not a nice illness.

I wouldn't worry too much about food until your dd can keep it down - fluids are the important thing.

I used to try all sorts, but one thing that sometimes helps is either fruit flavour ice lollies or 'ice pops'.They help with the fluid intake, and also help with high temperatures.

She is fast asleep at the moment we've had a few nasty trips to the toilet, but she has kept food down (from this morning) and fluids, which is a good thing... I'm going to see how she is when she wakes up.....Ahh the joys of parenting... wish it was me poorly than her... ahh well...

Yep she is fine, she overcome this now onto her hip Never rains but pours is what they say I think?
