I had the gastric bypass 3 months ago and I am leaving for WDW in 12 days. We are on the DDP and ihave a question about it.

My doctor has given me a card explaining that i cant eat regular portions and asks that I only be charged the child's price. Do the Disney servers honor these type cards? My plans are to use the card at Boma's and Chef Mickey's and pay OOP while saving my 2 TS credits for DM and DD to use later in the trip

Thanks in advance,

Grumpy

ETA: I am also posting this on the DDP board

I don't think so. There are no child portions, just the children's menu which is very limited.

doubtful. you would be charged full credit regardless as an adult.

your other option would be to order from the child's menu, but for any buffets.. you would pay adult prices.

lots of people not under the same restrictions don't eat a lot at buffets( myself included). which Is why I don't go to buffets, I can't see spending $29.995 for what little I would consume. I'd rather go to a fancier restaurant and spend the same amount of money and get two meals out of the deal.

On one of the Disunplugged Podcasts back in April the fellow who does the restaurant reviews (Kevin I think) casually mentioned that Disney had started charging the child's buffet price for those with gastric bypass surgery.

I would suggest you post this over on the Dis Unplugged board and ask there - you could mention that someone heard on one of the podcasts that this was true and ask if he could confirm that - maybe he will follow up with you as he posts to that board often.

I don't have this issue but my ears certainly perked up when I heard him say that cause I know that it is a question often asked - about those who cannot eat a full meal or eat at all, etc.

I just got off the off the phone with a CM and I was told that YES if you have a letter/card from your surgeon explaining that you have had a Gastric Bypass and cannot eat full portions, Disney Dining WILL honor that card and only charge you at the child's rate at any of their restaraunts. Please note that I did NOT ask about receiving the entire DDP at a childs rate, but only individual meals paid OOP

Rather than ordering off the kid's menu, how about simply ordering ala carte?? Your selections would then be healthier. Is spliting a meal an option? I'm sure you already know the portions are HUGE and can satisfy two grown adults w/o WLS which is what hubby and I did a couple of times last year. My DH and I now have both had WLS (gastric banding) and we simply plan on spliting most of our TS and CS meals. If anyone in our group wants to use the extra credits that's great but otherwise they will simply go unused. If it weren't for the free dining in September we wouldn't even consider the DDP.

I never intended to order off the kid's menu. As i stated in my OP . My question was concerning the buffets. I will be paying the children's price OOP and then allowing my DD and DM to use my credits for a breakfast on the day we leave

Hi, I had googled "disney dining plan with bariatric surgery" and found your post. I wanted to ask you what happened when you were there? Did they charge you reg price or kids price? My deal is that we have the free dining plan. I totally understand that when we go do a buffet character meal they will deduct my plan. But, I'm wondering for the ones that we order or the family style dining will they deduct my card or will I be able to share with my husband? If they let us share that would allow me to make some additonal reservations.
