Gastons cinnamon rolls

I have heard elsewhere on these boards that it is a timing thing. That you don't want to be there right when they open or you get the day before ones or you don't want to go later in the day or they will have sat around. I am planning on a solid 10:30 a.m. cinnamon role break and see if we can get one of the nummy ones!

We got one last month for the first time. It may have been the driest pastry I've ever eaten. It was big, but definitely not good.

We thought they were just ok........................The pork shank, however.............HEAVENLY!!!

I've had then a few times, and mine were never dry. We always get them mid morning.

I may be a little crazy but I do not like any pastries, donuts, buns, or cake or gasp, cupcakes. I do love pie, cookies and ice cream so I am not totally crazy. However, last trip I shared a red velvet cupcake at Starring Rolls with dd and sil. First cupcake I have ever loved. Also, based on all the raves, I decided to try a cinnamon bun at Main Street Bakery, nope still don't like them so will def not be getting one at Gaston's. However, my dd loves cinnamon buns so she might want to get one so I will take a bite of it.

Aww that stinks. They're on my list to try this year as the pictures of them make my mouth water! This won't stop me from trying them though. Maybe you had bad luck with them?

I thought it was just me; I make pretty awesome cinnamon rolls, so I have high expectations. Gaston's were dry, too airy, and just not very flavorful. They did seem like they were day-old, too.
Definitely not just you! My hubby is what I like to call a cinnamon roll snob and he so looked forward to trying the one at Gaston's- making us trapse back that way to get it. He was very disappointed. I tried it too and found it to be nothing special.

I had my first and last "Gaston bun" in October. It was an emh morning, I did a couole rides and popped in for breakfast so it was less than an hour after opening. Mine was room temp and slightly dry. All the flavor was on too, the bottom might as well have been plain bread. I ate the top and tossed the bottom. Wasn't horrible, but nothing I would go back for.

I am seriously considering taking this off the plan now, that makes me a sad pooh bear

Considering how popular the Main Street ones were, I don't understand why they are selling different and inferior ones as a replacement. Ok Starbucks is a money maker, but why not have Gaston's make the original kind? Even if they were made off site and simply cooked at Gaston's to be served hot would be an improvement. It is like they think any bun will do and not that people want what used to be. Sad.
