I can't speak for other companies other than Dollar, but this past February the form I signed required a paid receipt from a service station within 10 miles of MCO.

Well that may be true, we only employ over 100,000 world wide and I haven't been asked to sign a waiver to the contract. If I were I would sign it and take the matter up with xxx rental corporate office later. I'm not too concerned about the bad news. Granted I don't use Dollar. The major I use has rates competitive to their's and I use them because they are hassle free.

Now if they had a pump at checkin I wouldn't be averse to paying what they pumped in, but they will have to stop refueling at the first click off, plus the refueling would have to be done in my presence (wouldn't want an employee to go home with some free gas).

Is the maple syrup production going to be good this year?

Delaware Mike; Dollar is requiring a signed acknowledgment at the counter that you will fill the car within 10 miles before return. This amends or is an extension of the contract and is therefore enforceable, unless you refuse to sign and therefore end up with no car to rent.

But that agreement amendment states 10 miles, right? ...not 3 to 5 as incorrectly posted by someone else.

I agree with that method. I have taken a car from MCO to Boardwalk and filled it to the fill neck putting in 16.00 in gas!!!! I should have complained, but did not. There was no way I used that much in so few miles. Apparently some have complained and that is why they now want the local fill up. The question is as you have noted, what is the fill up point?

Just a note – Dollar did not request my receipt of fill up upon my return to MCO in February. I filled up at the station taking the right at the end ramp.

I haven’t heard on the maple production here yet. They are still sugaring. The ski season is certainly alive and well!
