Ok, so the ones I know of for sure in my local (DC Metro) area are:

Safeway:4x gas rewards on gift card purchases, max discount $1/gallon, redeemable at Safeway gas stations only.

Giant: 2x gas rewards on gift cards, redeemable at Shell, max discount $2.20/gallon

Weis: Spend $50 in one transaction (includes gift cards) earn $.10 off/gal per $50 spent in a single calendar day. Redeemable at Weis GasNGo stations, and participating Sheetz or Manley's locations. Max discount actual price of gas at Weis stations, or all but 1.9 cents per gallon at Sheetz.

What are y'all seeing around you?

Kroger fuel points-- I bought $3000 in gift cards to pay on our balance - got quadruple fuel points 12,000pts) which can be redeemed 1,000 per transaction/fillup for $1.00 off per gallon--- saves us $15-23 each time one of us fills up
:cool1:

Oh and bought them with our new southwest rapid rewards cc so we can get our 50,000 Rr points and fly to Disney for free!!

I was looking at doing the Kroger 4x fuel points to pay off our trip and would love to get that much. But what I'm seeing is that the points can only be used for the next month? So if I fill up once a week I can only use a max of 4000 points. DH's car takes diesel and they don't have that at our Kroger gas stations right now, so it's just my car.

And that's a good point about buying them with a CC--I didn't even consider using my Amazon rewards CC to buy the gift cards, thanks for the tip!

They expire at the end of the month after purchase ( like if earned on 2/1 will expire after 3/31).

New to the whole Kroger fuel points program, so I wanted to run this by the experts and see if I got it right.

Would like to buy $700 worth of Disney Gift cards. If purchased before 3/31 I get 4x points or 2,800 points. That would be $1/gallon off my first 2 fill ups and $0.80 off my third fill up. I fill up weekly so no problem using before the month is up (they would expire by end of April if purchased in March).

My credit card also gives me 6% back at grocery stores (Kroger included).

So I pay $700, get 6% or $42 back from my credit card (statement credit) and then a total of $2.80/gallon off (realize that's over 3 fill ups as detailed above) a total of 35 gallons each time. A savings of $98.

So in the end I pay $700 - $42 - $98 = $560 or 20% off. Can that be right??

Also, my tank isn't 35 gallons, can we take both cars to the station and fill up at same time on same pump/transaction?

Thank you!!

I believe the official policy is only one car can fill up, but I have read of other people filling up two cars.i believe your math should be right, assuming you were able to use maximum number of gallons per fillup and that your cc doesn't exclude GCs from the bonus.

Thank you for the reply! Now to make sure my local Kroger has the gift cards in stock...

Wow-reallly-I had no idea. I bought a bunch of GC at Giant the other day and according to my receipt, I did not receive any gas rewards. Just figured they weren't earned on GC purchases.

What kind of gift cards? If they were Giant gift cards no gas points are applicable. All others should have earned you gas points though. The bonus 2x varies. Sometimes it's just face value sometimes it goes up to 4x. You can always take the receipt and your card back to the store and they will fix the error.

Couple things I wanted to add, since the OP started this thread Safeway has now allowed their discount to be used at other specific gas stations. I know some Exxon stations participate not sure of the rest.

Everytime I had a large discount I would always either take a second vehicle or a lot of gas containers and be sure to get the maximum amount of discounted gallons. The key thing is to be sure you never hang the gas nozzle up or it will end the transaction and the discount.

Lastly, someone was asking about the Kroger discount. I know that Safeway limits there gas discount to 25 gallons while Giant allows up to 35. Safeway is an affiliate of Kroger (atleast I thought). I'd think that their limit would be 25 gallons as well.

I pulled up the Kroger Fuel page and it does verify the 35 gallons. The fuel capacity for our 2 cars is just over 36 gallons. Guess we both need to be on fumes to maximize :) I walked DH through the potential savings last night and he was on board with having to sync up on our fill-ups the next 3 or so times.

Great!

The only other thing to remember. Atleast locally most gas stations have a limit on how much you can spend in one transaction at the pump on a credit card. Actually I think it may have been implemented by the credit companies but anyways. Be prepared to pay inside they usually don't have (or can override) the limit at the register or be prepared to pay in cash in order to take advantage of the maximum amount of gallons discount.

Thank you for the tip!! I'll make sure to pay inside just to be safe and also have some cash on hand.
