I have a gas question:rotfl2:

We are driving as we always do because I hate to fly and we are thinking about getting a gas credit card before the trip. Last time we drove we bought gas gift cards and there were no Marathon stations in FL boooo. So are any of these gas stations available in the southern states like GA, TN, KY,FL

BP
Shell
Lassus
Speedway
Marathon

The furthest south I am seeing speedway on the speedway map is a single station in Tennessee.

I know BP, Shell, Speedway, and Marathon are all available in KY.

Why not just pay cash or use a debit card then you don't have to worry about weather a certain station is along your route?

Marathon Oil Company owns Speedway. Gas stations actually owned by Marathon use the Speedway brand name while non-owned stations use the Marathon brand name. There are many Marathon stations around Orlando. Speedway used to be big in Florida however about 5 years ago Marathon sold them all to Sunoco.

You'll find BP and Shell throughout Florida. Exxon/Mobil stations are all-over as well.

I would not buy gift cards to gas stations.

There may be gas stations of the desired or applicable brand but if you have to go any distance out of your way to get to the station then it is a bad bargain.

In my area there is one supermarket that gives reward points redeemable at one brand of gas station but the station in town of that brand is the most expensive one in town.

There is nothing to lose with a gas station credit card that has no annual fee, but my regular credit card gives me more reward points.

Thanks for all the info. I think we are going with shell because that is what we use most of time and it accepts our Kroger points for gas discounts. And it seems to be everywhere.

We bought Shell/BP gas cards to get Kroger points for our trip last fall.
It was a big mistake.
Our first gas exit was in north GA, with a Pilot truck stop and a Shell. Pilot was 3.39, Shell was 3.73. We paid for Pilot fuel out of pocket.
It was also inconvenient as we may have wanted to eat at Chik Fil A, but couldn't find an exit with both a Shell and and Chik Fil A.

As for Speedway, along I75 the last one is Corbin, KY exit 25. It is normally one of the cheapest gas spots in KY. After that, Williamsburg exit 11 has a Pilot, then it's slim pickins until deep into TN.

I personally wouldn't buy gas cards for a trip to Disney again.

Get a pre-paid Visa, MC. or AMEX. That way you are not tied to a certian station. If you have any money left over at the end you can use it anywhere.
