I stopped for gas tonight at a station I rarely (if ever) go to. Gas was $3.19. :furious: BUT when I reached $3.20 the pump registered that I had only pumped 0.8825 gallons of gas. So doesn't that mean that I actually paid more for gas than $3.19? I mean when I reached $3.20 I should've had 1.001 gallons of gas right???

Yes and no I think on start up they are allowed to cheat a bit as they can say the hose will be filled. But do a 5 gallon and $16 test for those prices and it should be about right.Thats how the inspectors test it.

Now with that being said yes the gas stations are cheating and taking all kinds of risk because they are not seeing the profits of the gas companies. Saw an independent Exxon getting filled with a non brand name gas truck today.

They are putting reg in super tanks and it's been done for a while .

You can look on the pump for the last time it was checked or calibrated .
