Gas Prices Rt 95

We are driving from NJ and wondering what the current gas prices are going down on Rt 95. Are prices way over $3.00? Where are the cheapest gas prices?

We are driving to WDW in 4 days! For a recent road trip, I used the website www.fuelcostcalculator.com. It was almost exact to the penny. There is also great information on this website about where to buy gas on I-95. Avoid DC and North Carolina. Buy gas at GA-Exit #3.

Here is my experiences with gas along I95. Now my last trip was April so things may have changed, but for the last couple of trips, these areas held true for lowest pricing.

Southern NJ, Exit 1 Go to the Flying J. It's always .10 cheaper than the turnpike and the other truck stops in the area. Maryland is .10 to.20 more expensive.

Southern VA Emporia. It's been .05 cheaper than Roanoke Rapids, NC the last couple of trips. However, in my trips in 2005 to early 2006, Roanoke Rapids was cheaper.

Walterboro, SC. The El Cheapo which is about 1/2 a mile from the highway runs .05 cheaper than the stations right next to I95.

I always top off in GA, but I have been finding either exit 7 or exit 1 has been cheaper than the gas stations at exit 3.

In FL, if you can make Disney property, gas at the Hess stations there, if not, stop in Seminole County. The gas usually runs .05 cheaper due to not having the extra .05 a gal tax.

The above stops are between 300 to 350 miles apart. That's my range on the highway.

I drove from Raleigh to St. Augustine two weeks ago. Prices were close to $3/gallon in most places, SC and Georgia are a bit less than NC.

I paid $2.89 for regular at a 7-11 today, a station near I-64, and I've seen $2.95 for regular at a local Sheetz station near my house (admittedly not near a major interstate). This is the Richmond area.

I don't know how much gas is up around DC or along I-95, but I would say around $2.95 or so.

In addition there is a newhampshiregasprices.com and a mainegasprices.com and although I haven't tried them all there may be more for different states. (Beware, there is a spoof, nhgasprices.com and maybe others like it.)

Slightly off topic: Pick Up The Correct Nozzle! Sometimes the nozzle on the left is premium when you expect it to be regular. If you make a mistake or see that the price showing in the little window on the pump face is higher than you expect, stop the pump, put everything back, and start over.

Southbound through New York, I-95 vanishes around Piscataway and Metuchen New Jersey and reappears near Trenton NJ. You will be on the New Jersey Turnpike. Get off at Exit 7, there is a cheap truck stop style gas station right there, then go all the way around behind the gas station and that takes you about a mile to free freeway I-295 which in turn takes you to Wilmington Delaware to rejoin I-95.

Prices in Dc are up to about $3.19 but further south were we live (northern VA) Prices are about $2.89 - $2.97.
