Just as an FYI to everyone heading that way. We were very surprised to find gas cheaper on property than at our home in South Carolina!!

I think it was at $2.49 at the Hess near DTD.

Oh boy! That's reason alone to go to Disney! (Just kidding, I was going anyway). Gas up here in Boston was $3.09 a gal for regular today!

there was a post a few weeks ago that Disney has "stockpiled" a very large amount of gasoline on the property, and they weren't worried about shortages because of it.

Yeah, but I doubt that is what Hess would be selling in their stations. If Disney stockpiled gas, it is more likely for internal use.

I've noticed since Hess took ove the on-site gasoline sales that prices are often the same, if not better at Disney than elsewhere in the immediate area. Exxon on-site always seemed a little more expensive than the surrounding areas.

If Hurricane Rita hits the Texas oil rigs with much force, you can bet that prices will SOAR! All the oil companies have already evacuated their rigs. Even natural gas prices will more than double because 24% of the natural gas in this country comes from this region.

Thanks so much for letting us know! We leave on Friday and we have a rental car so that's good to know. DH just called and told me to fill up my gas tank because they are expecting gas prices to be close to $5/gallon next week in our area (northeast).....I hope that's wrong!!!

When we got to WDW on 9/10, gas was 2.91 on property. When we left on 9/18, it was down to 2.59. We passed a station on the way out in Kissimee that was 2.99.

We were debating about going somewhere else because of the cost to drive to Disney. But because of those prices and using Disney transportation once there, we probably saved. (Well just on gas, that doesn't count all the merchandise we bought!!)

I'm only one county over and its cheaper on Disney property then I can get it here. Of course thats thanks to all the additional gas taxes our county commissioners added.

wow that's a great drop from last week...they were about 2.83- 2.89 last week. I wish there was that much of a drop at home.

Just imagine the price people in the US would pay if it was taxed!!!!

Here in UK we are paying almost £1 per litre at present, or £4.30 per gallon, which equates to around $8 per gallon. yes 8 (eight) dollars per gallon..... looking forward to 3 weeks in Florida to save a few (loads of) bucks!!!!

Just be aware if you use a debit card as a credit card at the Hess stations they will put a $75 hold on your money. It doesn't make any difference how much gas you buy. It may take 3 business days for it to clear.

Many people in FL are upset about this.

I live in WV and we pay .47 tax on each gallon! So glad prices aren't as high as they are in the UK though! Have a great trip! :sunny:

Wow, thanks for the tip....is the same true if you use your debit card and punch in a PIN or only if you say credit? Thanks!

We definitely found them to be cheaper when we were there in August as well. It was so surprising!

Thank you safetymom, we had plan to not take much cash, just our debit card. I'm so glad I noticed this, you saved us! I just love this board!!

I hope it sure stays down a little bit lower. I was so glad to see gas prices go down because of our upcoming trip. Now I am concerned they will be super high again - ugh.

Arriving on Friday, the 16th we saw 2.99, Saturday 2.69, and by Monday at the Hess stations it was 2.48!

Here at home in CT it's still $2.89. And that's a decrease!
