I have family heading to Mrytle Beach this week-end. I don't think they should go. What have you folks from SC heard about gas availability and prices? :confused3 I have heard all sorts of rumors here in East Tennessee, but I have been at work and not able to get out and look. I'm leaving a minute and will check out things here.

we used to live in Cowpens, in the upstate. I heard today from an old neighbor that many stations are out of gas, they don't know when they'll get more. They are supplied by New Orleans. NC and GA are suppossed to have the same problem.

I'm in Western NC, around 45 minutes from Spartanburg...prices are between $3.00-$3.75 for regular, and many gas stations from here to the upstate are out and closed.

I'm in Myrtle Beach. Have been at work all day but as of yesterday the prices seemed to be about what they have been (2.50 ish). Haven't heard any talk of places running out and I work in a gossip factory. :) I'll pay attention to the prices on my way home and can let you know for sure.

Add Fl to that list! I just canceled my Labor Day trip to Disney because the gas stations in my city are running out of gas & they aren't sure when they will get the delivery. I was leaving tomorrow to the AS-Movies. When I called Disney & explained what was going on, the CM verified with Guest Services & came back on the phone & told me that they would give me my deposit back. She also told me that they (Guest Services) told her that it is FL, GA, SC & she thought they said Alabama. Something with the pipeline that went thru where the storm hit is shut down & the tankers cannot fill up to deliver. My local news just said that my county is one of 11 in the state of FL that the school districts are running low on fuel for the bus runs. My county has only an 10 day supply left. Our problems are nothing compared to where the storm hit. I know we will all pull thru this eventually. Where the storm hit will take years to rebuild...if they even can

Guys, stations ran out yesterday because everyone rushed out to buy. Everywhere here that ran out now has gas available....I live in West Virginia. All the reports I've seen from the south indicates that they're fine as long as noone rushes out and buys it all up. The pipeline is flowing again and will be at 61% capacity by the day's end.

But the fact of the matter is that people ARE rushing out to buy it...but besides that, the prices are high. A lot of people, including myself, didn't budget gas at $4 gallon, regardless of how much of it there is.

Well we leave West Virginia for Disney on Wednesday the 8th...I hope things have settled down by then.

I don't think things are going to be any better any time soon, guys. The President is saying it'll be several weeks before things will start to return to a normal supply. Do we believe him or not? I don't know. This morning gas prices in MA were $2.71, and on the way home from work were up to $3.39. We haven't run out yet, but lines are starting to form, and there's a LOT of stations price-gouging.

Well I just called Disney and ALL of their gas is supplied via the Virgin Islands so there is NO shortage there whatsoever. Southern Georgia is supplied via ports in Savannah and along the coast. When everyone talks about rationing, they're trying to keep people from filling up cans upon cans of gas and hoarding it.

Here's a link to the Colonial Pipeline that supplies alot of states, they're gaining capacity and will be at 61% by the end of today.

I rode around a little on my way home from work and prices have gone up some. In Myrtle Beach the cheapest I saw was 2.99 and the most expensive was 3.29. Didn't see any closed gas stations, no long lines, no bags over the pump handles like they were out or anything.
The local newspaper has a site at
myrtlebeachonline dot com*
there is an article talking about this that has a lot of information.

Their biggest concern might be where the have to travel through to get here and whether or not gas is available there. Most people come through Florence, SC on their way here. The Florence newspaper is called the Florence Morning News and they probably have a website you could check to see how things are there.

*my account is too new to post urls, :confused3 you'll have to key it in manually to get there.

my parents live in Pawleys Island, just south of MB, prices are up but no closed stations. Prices are higher here but no stations have closed.

If they are only a tank or so of gas away from their destination, it would probably be overkill to cancel the trip. I would try to refill at about half a tank and factor in some extra time for lines and cash for high prices.

The economy needs these travelers! I feel for all the workers in the hospitality field.

Latest news, the Plantation pipeline to Charlotte has now been restored to full capacity and the Colonial pipeline will be at 85% by the weekend. So that means gas is now coming into the area and thus to the stations.

Prices are coming down in our area. They went from 3.09 this morning down to 2.89 and some even 2.79.

black562 I just wanted to thank you for spreading some good news!

Too often it's the bad news that gets spread.

I felt more at ease after reading your posts, esp the link to Colonial.
