Gas powered golf carts?????

We are heading back to the campground March of 2006. This year we want to bring a golf cart. Does anyone know if you can use a gas powered cart instead of electric. We are looking at buying one. Of course we would make sure the exhaust isn't loud or yucky and we are not the type to go roaring through the campground at 2:00 in the morning. We are just looking for a simpler way to get to and from the pools, boats and the lodge. Thanks in advance for any help.

You can give the Bike Barn a call at 407-824-2742 to be sure, but I thought only electric carts were allowed at FW.

I don't think any gas powered vehicles are allowed, but that doesn't stop people. I have seen Kawasaki Mules running around. FW security does not seem to care much.

You might consider buying an electric ... we went thru this last year when we bought our Villager 4 electric. According to the dealer, 90+ of the carts they sell (Clubcar) are electric. Not sure about resale, but I would WAY rather have an electric than a gas cart. If you are not a speed freak, then electric will do fine (19 mph), and far less maintenance.

Officially, no gas powered vehicles are allowed. Just because this has been loosely enforced doesn't mean they can't decide to enforce the rules at will. I think if I were interested in buying a cart for use at FW, I would not take the chance of getting a gas cart and being grounded while I was there, I would play it safe and get an electric. Better for the environment, too.

This is not true any longer. When we were at FW three weeks ago, we were given a paper when we checked in that listed which kind of "transportation" was allowed. They specifically stated that Gas and Electric golf carts are allowed but the Kawaski Mules or 4-wheelers are not allowed. This list had everything on it from roller blades to 4-wheelers. It also stated where you were allowed to use these different items i.e., sidewalk, roadway, paths etc. I was glad to hear about gas carts since we have one and hope to take it with us when we purchase a MH. Can't take it now because we have a Fifth Wheel.

I do agree with the enviroment issue. However, we need a larger golf cart and $$ wise our best option is gas.

We just returned and I have the rules we were given.Electric scooters,NEV's(neighborhood electric vehicles),electric bikes and Segways are allowed.Gas powered scooters,Dirt bikes,mini-motorcycles and ATVs are not allowed.Skateboards are not allowed no matter how they are powered(people,electric,or gas powered).Golf carts can be either gas or electric.Happy motoring to you.

I am so excited. We purchased a club car so there will be room for all of us!! I can hardly wait to go now and have easier access to the pools and the Lodge. Half of our group is staying there. Thank you everyone for your information.

I have been looking for a golf cart ever since we were there in June of 05 and I will buy a gas for the simple reason of... My wife will run it dead and forget to charge it, then I will be walking. I can solve this by keeping a gas can handy. That is all I will say on this gas VS electric.

Two points to remember:

1. All golf carts have to have lights

and

2. You can't take your golf cart all the way to the Lodge. You'll have to park at the Settlement golf cart parking and walk or take a bus.

Nope, no golf carts allowed on the trail. They have those posts up at each end of the trail spaced so that bikes, ECVs and individual scooters can get through, but too narrow for golf carts.
