I'm going to be driving to WDW for the first time in late November.

Do the gas stations off I-95 generally have full service, or are most of them self service?

I really don't want to have to learn how to pump gas if I don't have to!

they are mostly self, especially if you are driving any portion at night. but don't worry - it's pretty easy to do. :)

If you're planning on driving 1,200 miles to WDW by yourself and worried about pumping your own gas at 3 a.m.; you should be driving to Newark, JFK or LaGaudia.
Good Luck,
Joe

Hi, Joe --

Thanks for the helpful advice, but I won't be driving by myself, and I won't be stopping for gas at 3 am. And I'm not flying because my mother is coming and she can't fly any more.

Obviously if I was that worried about pumping gas and could do it, I would be going to Newark and flying.

But thanks anyway. The next time I need an obvious solution to a problem I'll be sure to let you know.

The instructions are pretty clear at the pumps. But one thing they don't tell you: DON'T FORGET TO SCREW THE CAP (ON YOUR CAR) BACK ON WHEN YOU ARE DONE FUELING.

We usually do self serve because it's cheaper. I don't like to pump gas, but I try to think of it as a special part of vacactioning. :) NJ is the only place that has inexpensive full service! We're pretty spoiled!

I can't remember if any states are cheaper than others, sorry! We usually just fill up when we stop for food or for the night.

Hope you have a great trip!

The bigest problem with on the road fill ups is payment,(Pay inside , outside, charge inside , outside, all different rules. Generally the easiest is slide a credit card in the pump if its set up that way. After that, its select your grade of fuel, stick the nozzle in your tank, and squeze the trigger. Good advise on not forgetting to replace the cover on your car.Cheapest fuel is at (or near) these exits on I 95. VA 104, SC 164,GA 3.

Growing up in North Carolina, I can't remember ever having anyone pump gas for us except when I was very little. This is one of the things that I love about visiting other sections of the country, we are alike and so different. I almost had an altercation with a service attendant recently when I leapt out of the car to pump my own gas on a business trip in New Jersey!!

If you are traveling on I-95, it is a law in South Carolina that you must stop at South of the Border. :smooth:

Ok, not really, but we used to count how many signs there are for that place. There are a bunch.
