Okay, I'll ask all of you so see if I'm overreacting.
Yesterday, our gas company was here burying a copper tube that leads to our LP tank. About 2 hours after they left, I opened the kitchen window and was about knocked over by the smell of gas. We shut everything off, took the kids outside and shut off the gas at the tank. I called the company, but they were closed. I did get the emergency number and called that. I got an answering machine! Not only that, it took almost 4 hours before anyone called me back! I know we had the gas shut off at the tank, but for my own peace of mind, I would like the company to call to let me know we had done everything possible. This also happened right after 5:00. We still had a good 3 1/2 hours of daylight if someone had responded when I called. All the information they have ever given me states is bold letters "gas leaks are deadly." I haven't complained to anyone at the office, but I'm thinking about it. This could have been very serious, fortunately it wasn't. However, they didn't know that.
What do you think? Is it unreasonable to expect the emergency line to deal with this in a more timely manner? I wanted to get another opinion before I have to talk with the gas company this morning. Thanks!
Rachel
