Gas just hit 4.00 a gallon in Orlando..

Gas is $3.79 at our local Madison, WI Costco. I just filled up last week after about a month. I drive an electric hybrid so I don't expect to fill up again for another month or until I start driving to Chicago again which is about 300 miles roundtrip. When baseball season starts again I'll drive to Chicago a couple times a month and that takes an entire 7-gallon tank plus a charge, so I'll be filling up 3 times a month.

It WAS very controversial. If we're all going to EV cars, it's the only way for that transition to work b/c solar/wind/water can't come close to replacing fossil fuel use on the grid, but nuclear can.

Approximately 95% of energy produced in BC is done through renewable sources, the majority of it is using running water.

But the US doesn't have that resource everywhere, and the sheer volume of cars on the road that would need to be added to the network can't hope to match it. You can only use a renewable source where it works - thus solar isn't great in Alaska and water isn't great in the desert. Studies have been done - we have to go nuclear if we want to greatly lessen our fossil fuel use. Germany has done that in the past, as has much of Europe, b/c they don't have access to the fossil fuels themselves (see their Russian issues now) - they switched from relying on nuclear to relying on Russia b/c their renewables weren't close to enough to get through winters...

Oh, I totally get that. My post was really more of a "fun fact" about BC than trying to tell the US what they should do!

Well gas went up almost 60 cent a gallon... the store I always get gas at is. 3.99.999 so 4.00, WaWa is always the cheapest... 3.99.999 a gallon so 4.00

Where do you live and whats your cost... ??

$4.19 at Wawa across from Sea World entrance today.

Last Wednesday in northern Delaware gas was $3.55. It went up to $3.69, then to $3.99 on Saturday. DD says it’s $4.09 today.

Looks like I picked the wrong week to go on a road trip.

I already had a half a tank so filling it up at $4.49 didn't hurt too bad. What really got me was the sign at the road said $4.39 but when I pulled up to the pump that was for card holders. I get that they have to raise the price but that was pretty sneaky because on the sign at the road it doesn't say for card holders, or if it does it is in such small print that you can't see it while you are driving in.

That is so annoying to me that I actually will leave and go elsewhere.

It’s 4.29 outside Atlanta. Probably up close to a dollar since Ukrainian invasion started.

My neighbor said this yesterday....she goes to the same gas station religiously, and said it's up $1.00 in that period of time.

Well, this is "gas season" in the US, so expect prices to go higher. And Putin declared yesterday that he is banning all exports...so that's a lot of precious metals that are used in all sorts of components. Not sure if he'll stop exporting wheat as well, because that will mean famine for some parts of the world. Inflation may hit 10% in the coming months.

Prices rose about 75 cents in about a week here in the Baltimore area. I filled up last week at $3.65 and noticed the same station is now $4.39. Cheapest according to Gas Buddy is $4.19 about 10 miles away.

My area of Northeast Ohio seems to be holding steady at 4.09. This was the price yesterday. We will see what the price is on my way home from work.

As mentioned before the US has enjoyed low gas prices when compared to European countries.

Apparently the US also enjoys a slower rise in prices as well so the gap is widening.

Makes sense. We import less oil. For example. about 8% of the oil consumed by the UK is imported from Russia. We import 3.5%. This is the market repricing.
