For our Wonder cruise last weekend, we took Happy Limo to the port and picked up a rental from Budget for the return leg so we could bum around until our flight. When you rent a car from the Cocoa Beach location, it usually has less than a full tank of gas because they don't have a pump at the rental office. My paperwork was marked 7/8s, but when I got in the car, it was definitely less than that. The needle was a bit below the first line past full. In the meantime, a full shuttleload of people had arrived, so I didn't feel like going back in and waiting in line. Brainstorm: I had hubby take a photo of the gas gauge! We made sure that the mileage showed, too, so we could prove when it was taken. When we returned the car, I told the agent that it had been less than 7/8s and that I had a photo to prove it. I swear he thought I was nuts! That made him chuckle. But I've read horror stories about gas disputes and people being charged over $5 per gallon. Nuts or not, at least we had "insurance."
