Filled up on Sunday evening for 2.77 gallon. Less than 48 hours later gas is 2.99? Up 22 cents in less than 2 days.

Anybody else's gas up this dramatically the last couple days?

$2.99 sounds pretty good to me. I just paid $3.14. The fill-up before that was (I think) $3.02.

I know it sounds cheap to those paying over $3.00 but we were just paying 2.77. 22 cents in less than 48 hours is a BIG jump. Anybody know why the gas has increased so dramatically?

That's odd. Gas prices around here are down about 5-7 cents over the past few days.

I dont know why, however I did see it on the news that we (florida) would be over $3.00 by the end of the week.

It's been all over the news that the prices went back up - I think due to the worsening problems in the middle east, etc. The price keeps going up and down. I paid $2.81 today.

I know I will sound like a FOOL but could someone shed some light for me, if this is true WHY does that effect our gas??
Go slow, I just dont get this .

Should have known...DH just told me over the weekend that prices were expected to DROP that 20 cents, not RISE!!! Every time he reads something like this, it's incorrect. Ours has risen too, but it was nowhere near as cheap as many of you have posted a few days ago. Ours is about $3.25 now and was $3.18 over the weekend.

I went out one morning last week and decided I could wait to get gas on my way home about 2 hours later. It went from 3.10 to 3.14 in those 2 hours. Remember those days we didn't know exactally what gas cost because it was cheap enough that we never bothered to look???

Went up .20 here yesterday also. It will drop back about a dime this week and jump about .20 more next week. That's been the cycle recently. As long as the oil companies know they can do it with no penalty, they will continue to soak us.

Oil actually has dropped 5% since the first bomb flew in Israel 10 days ago, our gas is up 7% in the same time frame. Explain that one.

Gas here in Ohio is up to $3.09! Ridiculous! The petroleum industry really needs to be monitored so that it has to be accountable to someone. Everyone always says well write your senator or representative. Oh please do you think when they are sucking down cavier at lunch they are really thinking about how much gas is costing us? Also, this whole gas going up because of Israel and Lebanon is so lame. We are just being price gouged for every world conflict that they can use as an excuse. The top five oil producers in the world are:Saudi Arabia, UAE, Iraq, Qatar and Kuwait not Israel or Lebanon. But as soon as there is a conflict in the Middle East here we go again...

Yesterday a.m. I was driving ds to a class at the local community college. Gas at the Speedway was $2.97 -- I have their rewards card, so I got .02/gallon off -- so I decided to fill up the tank, even though I was only down about a 1/4 of a tank. By the time I got back 1/2 hour later, it was $3.19/gal!!! :scared1:

Today they're back to $2.97.

They change prices like I change channels on my TV.

Its very odd here too....if you drive 25 minutes north, farther into "Amish country" its down to 2.85...which is CHEAP!. Here where we, still the country but not out there, it went from 3.09 to 3.13 over the weekend. Then, I can drive 20 minutes South to DE and its down to 3.05...its very odd and unpredictable. And we are driving to FL in three weeks...I may need a loan to get there :rotfl2:

Just turn the tv on in the morning and watch CNBC or Bloomberg TV and you will see what the early AM $/barrel oil is and how much the trading price is for regular gas.

These up and down prices usually can be reflected in the pump prices a few days to a couple of weeks later.

The rates here have been pretty stable for the last couple of weeks, even with the volatility. I got gas yesterday, just to have it in case it went up again (I tend to only use a tank to two tanks a month). I really never even use a full two tanks anymore.
