Gas cards at Target??

If you ever look at the "fine print" of any prepaid Visa/MC/AmEx card, it specifically says "Not for use at self-service gas pumps" (as that typically requires a pre-authorization of extra $$).

Now, I guess one could go inside the c-store/hut and prepay for a set amount of fuel using one of those cards, but given most prepaid cards with a Visa/MC/AmEx logo costs at least 5 bucks, that would be extremely cost-prohibitive.

Just requires you to go inside. People give gifts of these kinds of cards all the time. The recipient may want to use for gas.

This is true, you can go inside and they just charge the amount you tell them to. I've done it before as well.

I understand it's a gift and the receiver can do with said gift as he/she pleases...but to pay $5 for a Visa GC, just to use it at a gas station?

Glad some people have that kind of money to blow...

If it's a gift what's does it matter if it's just being "blowed"

Personally I never understood the whole "gift card" concept why not just give cold hard cash that's excepted anywhere in person, I'm yet to meet someone that said "oh no thanks I have too much money already" I've ran into people who politely said oh u shouldn't have" but then isn't that what everyone says when they get a gift

Cash might be accepted anywhere, but it appears the person asking the question has some sort of credit at target (not sure what shopkicks are) that she can't just ask for cash for.

Shopkicks is an app that gives you points "kicks" when you enter a store and buy something there. So many kicks gives you rewards back.
