Hello,
I will be bringing my garment bag on the cruise with me, it is a full size garment bag that folds in the middle and has a handle and an arm strap.
I was wondering do I have to check this in or can it be carried on?

The reason for using it is so that all of my nice clothes for the cruise remained somewhat un-wrinkled and I thought if I check it and it gets thrown around that would defeat the purpose.

Has anyone had any problems carrying these onto the plane?
It would be considered my one carry on item.....
Or should I just go ahead and check it?

Thanks!

I carry that on with me. The theory being that if you really squished it, you probably could get it underneath your seat but since everyone is allowed a limited amount of space overhead then usually it can be stowed up there. I figure even in the worst case scenario where it did get really squished, I would be able to rescue it more quickly than if I checked it.

When we cruised we checked everything and then sent wrinkled clothes to get pressed on the ship.

But DH has the same bag you describe and when he travels for business he takes it as a carry on and stows it in the overhead compartment.

Thank you both for your quick responses!!
I think I will carry it, at least then the first night of the cruise we will have our nice clothes ready!

Thanks again!
