I have only been to Chef Mickeys and walked around the main building there and would like to know what the wings are like. Are you connected to the main building? How long of a walk. What kind of views do you get and which wing location is best.

Did anyone ever get upgraded to a tower room when you asked during regular season (June 1-8) before. :)

Wing rooms are great! spacious, accomodate 5 easily. One of the largest rooms onsite. There are covered breezeways to the main building. I booked garden for spring break, it was around $200,th etower was over 100 more a night. I switched to the Floridian. Don't think that you'll get that kind of upgrade for free when people are willing to pay rack rate :)

We booked a garden view room for our trip June 20-26, 2003. We checked in about noon, we didn't even ask for an upgrade. We were so excited to be there and back then I was a not a DISer, I didn't even KNOW to ask for an upgrade! Anyway, there was a conference in town that week, so they moved some folks from the garden wings to the tower to keep all of the conventioneers together. I was shocked and very delighted. We had a room facing the Magic Kingdom, we could see the electric parade from our balcony. It was so awesome! I had looked at the price of these rooms and it really wasn't affordable for us. So yes it does happen. Was it because we did NOT ask though? I don't know?

We were delighted and it was a huge surprise and we had only been at Disney for 15 minutes! The rest of our trip continued to be sprinkled with pixie dust, that's why we can't wait to go back in May!

Good luck to you, hope you have a great trip!

dislvr75 Were you part of the convention people??? That might have been why. My mom went this past August for the state of FL teachers kind of thing and when she told me where she was staying I thought for sure the garden wing is where she would be , the state is paying right?? Why put them in the tower, but she called and told me she was in the tower overlooking the lake. I could not believe it. And she went for free !!!!!

No we weren't convention people, he told told us we were being upgraded because we weren't. Most of the conventioneers were booked in Garden rooms and they wanted to keep them altogether. Instead of having a couple of families not associated with the convention right in the middle of a bunch of people who were all there for the same purpose, they moved us out so that all of them could be together. We were just a regular, average family of four.

Hope that gives you hope.

The North wing is closer to the food court and walkway to MK. The south wing is closer to the pools. We stayed in the south wing.

upgrades: when we stayed there last July (end) we had a wing room. It was value season and the front desk sent us to a room that wreaked of smoke. Since we had a guaranteed NS room, we went back and they switched our room. We got new keys and the room was occupied! So again, third trip to the front desk, and again were assigned another room (3rd one) that was acceptable for what we paid for. At that point I thought, I would think they would upgrade us after spending 2 hours walking between rooms and the front desk. But was not in the stars for us. Again I say it was value season, we had our grandson with us. And no way are we asking to be upgraded, but did think by the third time, you would've thought they would try to make a couple of tire people a little happier. The room was OK. It was what we paid for and we watched the monorail go in and out of the main building. since so many folks are willing to pay rack rate for this resort, I think upgrades are few and far apart. I have read a few posting of them, but it doesn't happen too often. We will see in September. I am booked there again (2 room) to celebrate the 50th. Not Disneylands' but mine! I wonder if there be any pixie dust in my room selection, but either way, the wing rooms were fine with me too! (SO BIG)
