My DD10 and myself have an ADR for midafternoon (2:30pm) before we go to MVMCP. We will not have time, I imagine, to return to BCV to change so I was wondering if we could wear the same clothing to both? Or should one "dress up" for the tea? I really want my daughter to enjoy this and feel that it is a special deal as my DH and DSs will be remaining in the MK doing "guy" things. (Whatever THAT is!)... Plus, are the tea offerings alot of food? Should be be skipping our TS at Tony's dinner that night and just doing a later CS meal? Thanks.

We had quite a bit of food - we ate at 2 and weren't hungry again until 9pm when we dined at Citricos. Of course, it depends on what you order.

When we went, most were in park attire while a few were dressed nicely since they were having celebrations there. You will be fine in park attire, IMO.

We have always gone in park attire, I just have everyone wear a polo shirt and nicer shorts (or pants if its colder).
If you get the Grand Tea or the Buckingham Palace there will be plenty to eat. We walk out of their stuffed! One year we went at 2:00 and were not hungry until our Hoopdedoo meal at 9:00.
Here is a link the offerings http://www.allearsnet.com/menu/menu_gft.htm

The tea service is A LOT of food. It might not sound like much on the menu, but trust me, you will be very full. Be sure to get scones with clotted cream.

I love doing tea at the Grand Floridian. Have fun!

Ok. Thanks all for the advice. I'm going to ask a really stupid question as I have never had proper "tea" before and would rather embarrass myself here then at the GF in front of my DD. How does one eat scones with clotted cream and preserves? Do you put it all on the scones? Eat it on the side? I'm challenged here! Help me.

By the way "Amphigorey" is a great book. Edward Gorey was brilliant.

I think that you will be fine in park clothes. We did this in 2003 and there was a mixture of every sort of dress pretty much. There were ladies dressed up for a proper tea complete with fancy hats. There were those of us in dressy casual. And there were folks in park clothes. No one cared.

The food is fantastic. I never thought that I would enjoy this event, but it was pretty neat. I would love to go this year, but I can't get a table for 3. I did however get a table for two, so Gabby & her Mom can do the mother daughter bonding thing. They have a 2:10pm seating and will join me and the rest of the family at MVMCP afterwards on 12/11.

Have a great time! Maggie

That's not a stupid question!! Yes, we put it all on the scone, *which is like a raisin-nut biscuit, but yummier!* but you can eat it however you like. In fact, I often eat the scone with just the clotted cream, to really get the flavor of the cream, mmmm. I don't think there is any rule, and I've never noticed how anyone at other tables prepared their scones, lol.

I was a little nervous about the tea service, and getting the strainer right, etc. - but the waitress does all that for you, so there you go! ;)

I'm sure you and your DD will have a lovely time, my teen-aged DD loves the GF tea. :flower:

ps - we always dress resort casual when we eat there, I don't think you'll feel out of place at all.

You will LOVE the tea! Dress in a nice sweater, pants instead of tshirts and you will be festive for the party later as well as comfortable with the tea ambiance. We always feel full after the tea. It really is special for mother-daughters. My DD bought us our first tea together last year and it will be a tradition. We have ADR's for the 19th!

My wife and myself will be doing the tea for the first time on December 6. It is great to read the replys in this post.
