We are staying for 2 nights and then moving to the Swan, which building with a garden view should I request?

There are lots of good garden view buildings. We have stayed in Fiji twice and love the location and the view. It is very close to the Great Ceremonial House and one side has a view of the beach and the other side a view of the marina and volcano pool. Request 3rd floor though for a balcony.

You may get a thousand answers to this question...each longhouse has its advantages, and every family has different needs and preferences. What is most important to you? A balcony? A view? Easy access to the TTC, or the main pool, or the boat dock?

We stayed in Rarotonga last summer, first floor, with a patio and easy access to the quiet pool. Not the most gorgeous garden view on property, but lovely, with REALLY great location - steps to GCH and bus stop. We had requested this building because we were travelling with people with mobility issues, so we thought it was most centrally located.

Rapa Nui, Tahiti and Tokelau have more bathroom space (some with double sinks) and balconies on the second floor. All the other longhouses have no balconies on the second floor. Rapa Nui and Tahiti are close to the TTC, but further from the GCH and main pool. Many families adore Samoa, especially facing the Volcano pool, and many rooms in Samoa and Tokelau have oblique views of the castle. I could go on and on...I'm sure others will add more about their personal experiences.

Aloha!

ETA: Keep in mind that you can request a location, but it cannot be guaranteed. Keep an open mind, and no matter what room you get at the Poly, there will be plenty to love about it.

I too have stayed in Fiji, 3rd floor, marina side and absolutely loved it! But as the pp said, it really depends on your preferences and needs. There is a great Poly website - just google tikiman and you will find it - it has comprehensive info on all the longhouses and the resort itself. Have a great trip!

We would like to stay close to the main house is possible...less walk or stumble at the end of the night ha ha. I tried to get onto tikimans sight but it is down.

We always request Aotearoa because we love the monorail view, we have never heard noise from either the race track or luau. It's a building that seems to get few requests so we always seem to get what we ask for. I use the GF health club and it's the closest building to that so it's very convenient.

Stayed on 2nd floor of Rarotonga last year. View was of the quiet pool/gardens. Entrance to building was about 20 feet from the GCH exit and very close to volcano pool and bus stop. We had 2 small children and the minimal walking was a plus. Hope this helps.:)

We've had one stay at the Poly, and our GV was as beautiful (and close to the main bldg) as you could want! It was in Samoa, and I'd request it again in a heartbeat...upper floor, volcano pool view. You can see the marina and the GF across the water! In a word, WOW!

That is the room location we had, and we loved it! It seemed like we were close to everything, but we didn't have a lot of noise from the other guests. I did like that we were on the end of the resort closer to the TTC. If we wanted to go to the Magic Kingdom, we just walked to the TTC, instead of waiting for the monorail. I think that tokelau is a good choice!:thumbsup2

About the transportation, I know you can get the monorail right by Kona, that is the main house right? Now what is this about walking to the TCC...you can do that? I dont need to take the monorail around and then switch to the Epcot monorail??

There is a path leading to the TTC. Its about a 5 to 10 min walk. It's great because you can just get on the direct monorail to EPCOT.

I think Tahiti has the best Garden View rooms because it doesn't get as much foot traffic as Tokelau or Niue. :)

We just got back from staying in Tokelau. It was a centralized location and we had a wonderful view of the quiet pool. This was our first stay at the Poly, so I have nothing to compare it to, but we will definetely ask for this longhouse again!!:thumbsup2
