We have one night left that we have to book dining for. We were thinking about Garden Grove but don't know much about it. It would be the Southern BBQ night. What do you think of this restaurant? Do you have to pay for parking at the Swan?

We would also welcome any other suggestions you have. Thanks so much for your help!

I only know about the parking...Yes, you will have to pay for parking.

From what I understand the "signature" restaurants at the Swolphin are now validating for parking. I don't know for sure if that includes Garden Grove but I don't think so.

Our Ratings of Garden Grove - Dinner Buffet:
. . . food price value: C
. . . food quality: B
. . . food quantity per serving: A
. . . food prep speed: A
. . . food selection: C
. . . seating quantity: C
. . . seating comfort: B
. . . eatery atmosphere: C

. . . staff friendliness: B
. . . staff helpfulness: C-
. . . character interaction: n/a

NOTE: We have dined at all three themed dinner buffets. They are
Seafood, Southern BBQ, and Mediterranean. We found the food quality
and taste to be well above average, but not superior. For a buffet, we
thought the price slightly high. We were not too fond of the Mediterranean
buffet, but liked the Southern BBQ, and really enjoyed the Seafood
"Fisherman's Wharf" buffet (we are fond of Bouillabaisse and Crab Legs).
Overall, an acceptable buffet at WDW and not as bad on the wallet as
expected. The only thing we thought was bad was the service. We waited
long periods for dirty plates to be cleared and drinks refilled or replenished.
The table actually got crowded with plates we were using and plates that
needed to be removed.

We ate there in Feb and I thought the Southern BBQ night was very good. DH is fussy about buffets and after complaining about the price, he admitted it was very good also. Like he said, we could have as many desserts as we wanted and (they were fantastic) to order the desserts separately, would have cost us probably about $15-$25 alone (we each had at least 4 or 5 and yes we were dessert pigs :goodvibes). The character interaction was also very good, in fact, I noticed the characters stopped and talked to some kids standing outside the restaurant. The waitress did tell us that they had revamped the entire buffet a few months before we were there and that it had improved quite a bit. When we were there, our plates were removed promptly but not always by our waitress. The other one did a lot of the work.

Remember you can get $25 certificates for $2-$3 with the current coupon code at restaurant.com.We used this coupon at Garden Grove a couple of months ago in a seafood night and thought it was just OK.We got there about 1.5 hours before they closed and the place was pretty empty and while the food was somewhere between mediocre to good it wasn't being restocked due to how slow it was.Having said that I would go again with another restaurant.com certificate on either the BBQ or mediterranean night and give them another shot.

What is the current code? Thanks!

We used that coupon from restaurants.com 2 weeks ago. parking was $12 I think it a lot but...) dinner was fine not great. there were only 2 characters and they rotate there is one out every 30 minutes.

It was fine, it isnt on the dining plan so I dont know that I would ever go back but if you dont have the dining plan, have the coupon and it is convenient than it isnt a bad choice.

Thanks for all your advise. The reason we were going to try this is because of restaurant.com. We're still undecided but we think we are leaning towards trying it. Thanks again.

I will probably get flamed for this, but we parked at the mini golf and walked over.
