Has anyone been to the BBQ nights at Garden Grove? What did you think of the food? How was the character interaction?

Thanks for the feedback!:goodvibes

So, I've been searching the forum and there seems to be no review, opinion, etc. of the BBQ nights at Garden Grove. Does this night even exist? I saw the menu in the dining section was updated 12/10 and has Tuesday and Sunday listed as Southern BBQ nights. I also read somewhere that Timon and Rafiki are the characters on week nights. Is that correct?

What's up w/ Garden Grove? Is it perhaps a hidden gem?

(I did just see that it's not on the DDP, maybe that's why so few reviews? I need it to be on the plan, but I'd still love the info for the future!)

Sorry your post isn't getting replies. We are planning on doing this on our trip in April. When are you going?

Not till August, and now that I know it's not on the ddp (we have the free dining promo) we'll wait until another time. I'm still curious though as to why there isn't much word on it. I would love to hear what you think upon your return!:goodvibes

We are thinking about going in 2 weeks. If we do, I will let you know how it is. It all depends on if they run another 80% off before we go and if they still have certificates left.

Timon & Rafiki only appear on Monday & Friday nights, which are seafood nights. On other nights, I believe the characters are Pluto & Goofy (of course, characters are subject to change).

I can't speak for the BBQ (as I only go on Monday/Friday nights), but I have found the buffet to be equal to (or better) than other WDW character buffets. The Caesar salad is excellent and they have very unique & tasty desserts. Usually, there aren't many people here & you can see the characters multiple times during your visit.

Cool! Thanks! I hope they release some more of the certificates for you. I remember seeing those in the past.

Thanks for the feedback! Sounds like a nice place that not many consider!

Its at the Swan and Dolphin. None of their restaurants are on the ddp. They do have gift certs on restaurant.com. We are going in April. Not sure if we are doing that or Breakfast.

That's why there isn't much feedback about it - people can't redeem dining credits there. It has pretty good reviews though. I booked it for October for a Mediterranean night as I purchased a certificate. I ended up cancelling though because it turned out that the qualifying spend was two adult entrees. As a single parent with one 8 year old it seemed silly to pay more than the value of the certificate for a buffet just to allow me to use the voucher.

For what it is worth, I am a bit sorry I didn't try it though and have considered just doing a meal there when we go back in September. It just looks like a lovely setting.
