We usually have a rental car so this is the first time we will not. DH has thought about renting a car for a day to go to get groceries but is it worth it?

How is Garden Grocer? We will have a full kitchen at our AKL Villa and we will make some meals there. We are not doing the dining plan and will only be visiting 1-2 parks. I'm not sure about Garden Grocer for some of the things we usually buy? Are prices similar to the grocery store? We usually stay at our Orange Lake timeshare so we hit Kroger and Super Target.

We also like to buy the babys diapers down there to save luggage room. I will need some baby food too as well as other staples.

Do you order bacon and meats and such through them? Dh would have to get a rental via the AAA area by TTC. Just trying to plan now for our trip!
Thanks!

You pay the actual food cost plus delivery fee(s). She will shop at any store you want. Check out the website for details.

I used Garden Grocer the first time in December and am using them again next week. I had no issues at all...my order was complete and the beer prices are so much better than Disney beer. :tinker:

We always use Garden Grocer but we use studios and only eat breakfasts in our villa so our orders are relatively small. We order some soda, gatorade, snacks, waffles, milk, coffee creamer, fruit, bagels, cream cheese, butter, syrup etc. We always get a couple of cases of water & a case of beer too. Since our needs are small we find the convenience worthwhile. The prices will be a little higher than what you're used to at home unless you live in an already expensive market area (which we do). Still worth it for us tho. I suggest you go onto the GG website and do some pretend shopping to see what they offer & to look at their prices etc. That's the best way to get a feel for the service.

to buy what we need if we are flying on an airline that charges for checked bags. The fees they charge for delivery and fixed unless you want them to make a second stop (we have them go to a liquor store) and that is $5 more. They charge only what your items cost and buy the brands you specify and shop at the store you designate. They look for sales, will use coupons if you send them in. They deliver right to your room or bell services if you do not want to be there.

We always tip the delivery person at least 10% and most of the time 15%

It is still much cheaper than checking bags!

We've used garden grocer for the past 6 years and have always been happy with their service. Twice they delivered to our room directly, went through the order with us while removing all the items from the bags. :)
However, I find it much easier to have the order delivered in the morning and have bell services at the resrot bring the bags to our room.
The prices are reasonable and the produce has always been exceptional. If you don't find what you're looking for on the website, it may be available. You just have to ask for it. We make special requests all the time.

I may be using a shopping service for our trip this spring. If you're not there and they deliver to bell services, how do you pay them? Do you give them a cc number ahead of time?

I can only speak for Garden Grocer, which we have used multiple times. You pay for your groceries online at the time you place your order. The tip can also be included in the online order, which is handy if you choose to have the groceries delivered to the resort before you arrive.

Can we still order beer if they are delivering to the resort before we arrive? What about the refrigerated items if we want to get milk, coffee creamer etc?

Not sure about the beer as we don't order that, but bell services will keep your refrigerated items refrigerated and frozen items frozen.

On my last trip we ordered wine and that was stored at Bell Services along with our cold items. We were super pleased with the quality of the food, and how it was bagged. Highish prices, but that is the price of convenience.

I find I can effectively meal plan and cut down costs by only getting what is necessary. I always get water.

You can get beer delivered to bell services (you will have to fax your drivers license to GG when you order it) and bell services will keep it. They have access to refrigeration and the orders are packed with the cold stuff together so that the cold items can be refrigerated. When you get your order from Bell Services just look at it real quick to be sure they didn't forget anything. On our last trip we also had a large box (24 count) of frozen waffles and they missed getting that out of the freezer to bring up to our room with everything else so I had to call down & ask them to look for it. It was there they just overlooked bringing it up.

makes sense about the DL - just wasn't sure how that worked if it was up to the bell service to check ID. Thanks guys.

With Garden Grocer you order your items online, selecting right from their website. The prices are listed there. You pay online as well. Check out their website: https://www.gardengrocer.com/ You do not need to create an account or login if you just want to browse their website to look at what they have available and what they charge.

I have used both and have never had delivery issues with either. I would figure out what you want and which place is cheaper.

GG has a very limited beer/wine selection. WGS pretty much allows anything.

Also GG can go to bell services as it is pre-paid whereas WGS needs to deliver to a person (with ID for alcohol).

Lastly, you know your bill with GG. With WGS, you will pay "actual price", but you won't know your total until delivery.

I have used Garden Grocer many, many times, and I have never been disappointed. Like someone else mentioned, you know what your total is when you check out. Their delivery fee is $12, and you must order at least $40 in groceries. (If you order $200 or more, delivery is free) I like picking out what I need from the website instead of asking the other company to go to certain stores. I use them even if I have a rental car - I just like to have my groceries waiting when I check in.

We used Garden Grocer the last visit and needed baby supplies plus food for breakfasts, snacks and a few dinners. Everything was perfect and they had all the food/diapers that we needed to keep us from having to bring them. We even did one of their prepared meal (a lasagna) that was fabulous and HUGE! We cooked it the second night and then had it left over for days. No one complained - everything was perfect. Produce, wine, and baby stuff - all good. Prices were a little higher than home but not enough to want to make life difficult! Good luck!

We have used Garden Grocer for years and can't speak highly enough about them. We've ordered just about everything from them - baby needs, alcohol, meats, produce, frozen items. Not once has anything spoiled or dated. In the early years they almost always delivered to the room directly, but it seems like more recently it's usually held for us at Bell Services. Never had a problem, either way.

Disney doesn't allow direct deliveries to your room. It cuts Bell Services out of their TIPS.

We also have used GG many times and LoVe them! We will be using them again in May and Oct and Nov.
