Garden Grocer Order

I've just added some items to my favourites:
Budweiser beer
Wine coolers
1 gallon of water
12 bottles of water
Mountain Dew
Gallon of milk
white bread
plain bagels
Entenmanns donuts
yogurts
lucky charms
pop tarts
butter
a 'bar' of cheese
6 eggs
ham
Lays chips

I don't intend to do any cooking. My thinking is that we can have boiled eggs, toast, cheese and ham toasties etc for snacks. I will take our own coffee/tea. It came to just under $90 not including delivery.

Does that look OK? Anything I have missed? Is it enough / too much?

I always order several boxes of cereal as we go through a lot and my kids quite often have it as a snack if they are hungry at night

I'd add maye another 20 bottles of water or so.

Otherwise it looks like you have it covered. :)

Good point - my middle DD eats 2 bowls of cereal every day. Any other nice/popular cereals over there? My middle DD loves Honey Cheerios.

Good point - I went back and changed it to the 32 bottle pack.:thumbsup2

Has she ever tried froot loops? They're all kinds of unhealthy but great fun and very American.

We tend to get the cereal variety packs and then we can try all the crazy American cereals an if youre not a fan it's no big deal as you don't have to throw any away.

Good plan with the water. :) We get through loads and it's only 2 of us. Remember in the parks you can get cups of ice water for free. I take a bottle out the fridge in the mornig then refill it from the cups throughout the day. :)

I bought the Froot Loops in Tesco the other week and nobody liked them. Think I will go with a variety pack.:thumbsup2

Good tip about filling the bottles with cups of ice water too.:)

We just returned from OKW - here's what I bought for 3 of us- me DD(19) and DS(12):

Orange Juice
Milk
6 pack beer
Pop Tarts
Lays crisps
Cookies
Vitamin Water
Coco Krispies

That was more than enough for us and some of it went into our owners locker for next time. There really is so much food on the dining plan that we didn't ever really feel hungry - we ended up with 6 CS credits leftover each of which we exchanged for 3 snacks (as we were heading to Miami for a few days this was really useful)

I have never used GG as we always have a car.
You probably won't need laundry detergent/washing up liquid or dishwasher detergent in your 1BR villa as they will be replenished daily by housekeeping

Thanks. I might have a re-think. Perhaps just covering the breakfast/drinks/snacks deficit might be sufficient.:confused3

julz, pls, u will need virtually nothing, i promise.
if u have a washing machine, they provide tablets, and if u need more if u call housekeeping they ll deliver them... whats the point in buying stuff you can get for free (just saying:rolleyes1)
yes, lots of bottles of water, we froze them in freezer, and attached them to our bottle straps, bru and i had 1 each, and then we had a few more ffrozen ones we left in a freezer bag in the car, by the time we got back to car they were cold still, and very welcome, then we d re fill them at restaurants or water fountains (car bottles=very good idea!!)
beer, yes, if u have a car, u can get them from dtd petrol station, all a few stores a few 100m from dtd.
id add sun block (spray version, its amazing lasts all day and is much better than uk versions)
snacks- really mate, ur kids are the same age as mine when we went 1st time on ddp, and we had loads left over, u can grab a snack of grapes etc, they can share the pot, or if (like me u have to have stuff on u in lines) get some teddy graphams etc.

dont worry about bfast in the room, stop at msb on the way out and pick up pastry (they re huge) or ask for desserts to go - yes i had cheesecake for bfast many a day- who cares ur on holiday?!?!? (or french bakery, or writers stop - get the idea??)
or u can go to the cs at hotel and share... with the heat and the excitment after a few days kids wont want to eat, we ended up giving away cs meals to people not on ddp (not allowed i know...) and bringing home 38 rice crispy mickey heads from sc left over!! we couls have easily had an extra coffee/ice cream/ pastry.. but saved rather than wasting them at the beginnign and in the end we just didnt want them....

out of 14 days ddp i think we had 7 breakfasts ts and 7 ts dinners, we just couldnt eat the food mate....
hth
tracy

ps coffee is provided in the room too- again ask if u need more, if ur kids "need" something to get them going in the morning, order it, we did pick up chocolate milk to heat in mi crowave and OJ after a few days, *** it helped getting them out of bed for RD, if not, ask for oj with meals at hotel and use refillable mugs for sodas when eating on site.... u ll prob find u take alot of cs meals on site to go and eat them in room, *** kids r tired or on sensory overload, or just want to chill by pool, so u can get the cs to eat poolside!!!!

This has given me food for thought. (pun intended;))
OK after a rethink:
beer
wine coolers
32 bottles of water
Gallon of water
OJ
Cereal (dd can't function without cereal)
Lays chips
I will have to spend $40 minimum, so I might have to add more... beers;)

We won't have a car, so taking a trip out to replenish supplies won't be straightforward. DH is fit and healthy, so if we need anything I will send him on a mission to spend sc's.

What sort of stuff can I get onsite at OKW? Can anyone post a link to what I can buy at OKW?

As okw is a DVD the shop has a selection of bread, milk, cheese, and other basic stuff like pasta and rice. They had burgers and sausages. It's by no means a massive selection but with what you are planning to get from GG it's more than enough. I do know that people have said its cheaper off site to buys things but we did nt notice a huge difference to uk prices for what we bought.

I would get milk to go with the cereal and add back the pop tarts - I have a weakness for all the different flavours they have!

I will see if I can find the grocery list for the OKW shop for you - it has prices on it to so you can compare.

I have now discovered that the OKW store stocks beer. And after chatting to another Diser, I don't think I'll bother with a Garden Grocer order.:rolleyes1 I would have to spend a minimum of £52 at GG to include delivery, and my kids aren't big eaters. I have pared down further to:
beer (we aren't big drinkers - honestly!)
milk
cereal
water
