We are 11days 19hrs 3min 55 sec from heading to the airport (not that we are counting). I want to order some breakfast/snack stuff from garden grocer b4 we leave.

What do you all usually order and how far in advance do you order it? Tomorrow is our last payday b4 we go, so I was thinking of ordering it then but would it be too far in advance?

We are bringing our own diapers because my DS has to have special diapers because all of the regular ones cause a big rash.

And because I didnt want to start a whole new thread.....
DS (the one w/ the diaper problem) was diagnosed w/ Eczema yesterday all over his body. He has been getting this really bad blotchy rashes all over his body for about a month now. The doc told us yesterday to change his soaps and carry all this special stuff for him. For those of you who have eczema or have kids w/ it...what do you carry into the park for them? Also should I send special soap to daycare to wash his hands w/ or just let him use theirs since he only goes maybe once a week if that now (he is hourly as needed). I'm so new to the eczema thing....I mean neither DH or I had it, and we are trying to figure out how much things should change for our youngest.

I can't really help with the eczema.

We always order breakfast stuff from Garden Grocer. We're not big breakfast eaters and don't really want to waste time and money eating out for breakfast. I usually order about a week in advance. I get milk, bottled water, bagels, cream cheese, and cereal.

My dd who is 19 has suffered with eczema all of her life. She too was dianosed as a baby too. I will say that she has outgrown a lot of it so for her it did get better. She was on everything over her babyhood and childhood as far as creams and ointments. She ended up having food allergies and food sensitivities that made it worse. She has an egg and peanut allergy but she flared up when she had a lot of citrus or tomato based products too. She actually does better in the winter than the spring/summer months. I would try using an antihistamine to prevent scratching which leads to worsen the patches. I would also stay on the regiment of the creams while on your trip too. My dd uses Aveeno bodywash and we alway use fragrance free/free of dye laundry products too. Good luck.....

For the eczema...get vanicream lotion. It is the best stuff in existence.
I have had eczema for my entire life and mine is so bad now that i am on immunosuppresents for it. I am also allergic to parabens and lanolin(chemicals in most lotions, shampoos, detergent, etc). The vanicream lotion is the best stuff ever. I usually say, if i can use it anyone should be able to use.

They have sunscreen, lotion and soap. I highly advise trying all off them. the sunscreen is a little expensive (about $15 for a 4 oz tube) but it really works.

Both my boys have eczema. But they use regular hand soap. We just use other stuff for bathing so unless your little one has eczema on his hands I wouldn't carry around special soap for hand washing. We also use and LOVE Vanicream lotion. The one that comes in the pump bottle. You can buy it almost anywhere (we get it from Walgreens). I highly recommend it.

DS(6) was diagnosed w/ eczema as an infant too and was initially given elidel then it was later recalled & had to stop using it. We then switched to dove soap for bathing, pat dry after bath & an occasional blow dryer to the skin (low setting) depending on how bad the out break was. We also used Eucerin calming cream &/or lotion mixed w/ an otc hydrocortisone equal amounts when he would have flare ups on the areas that were red &/or itchy. We have since been upgraded to a prescribed 2.5% Hydrocortisone that is used ONLY for flare ups on the red/itchy areas. I don't know how severe your son's case is but my DS can still use the Water Babies sunscreen even during flare ups. Just apply the hydrocortisone on the red areas then the sunscreen. FYI I still use the Water Babies on him as it was recommended by his pediatrician b/c it is a little milder for kids w/ eczema. I hope this helps but remember to always talk to YOUR doctor first. Have a magical trip:wizard:

I would order asap to get the delivery date and time you prefer.
We used them and had to get our stuff delivered the day after we arrived (which was really ok since we arrived in the evening). :goodvibes

I ordered about 6 weeks out because I heard the spots fill up. Most of my kids have had eczema as babies, and some still have it. Dove soap and prescription steroid cream is what works for us. I don't think you have to carry anything special in the parks.

Thanks everyone. We are going to place our order tomorrow for delivery on the 10th (hopefully). We wont be getting to the room till probably 4ish (plane lands at 2 and I'm guessing 2hrs from the airport to room), so an evening delivery would be fine. I will have to get the fridge from our fridge swap set up anyway.

Our kids drink a lot of milk, so I am deff getting milk instead of buying a $2 bottle (min) every few hours at the hotel. I was thinking cereal, bowls, spoons, snacks for the park, chips & dip for mommy and daddy, sodas for mommy and daddy, muffins, poptarts, juice boxes for the kids for the park, bottles of water for the park, and bags of chips for the kids for the park. Does that sound like too much? All of that was stuff we got from the Shades of Green Aafes facility when we stayed there in Feb even though we ate breakfast there on their meal plan.

As far as the eczema thing.... My husband talked to the doctor today and she suggested taking a little bottle of the lotion into the park because we will be using antibacterial gel on their hands (kids safe) and it could cause a flare up. She said to take this special soap w/ us to the hotel, but he doesnt need it for daycare or in the park. She also said that if we have to wash his clothing while we are there (we will be doing one load) that it will probably be best just to put a very little ammount of laundry detergent in there (as we probably wont be buying a full bottle of All's special stuff just for vacation). So yeah I guess that puts my mind at ease a bit.

I can help with the eczema situation. My DS8 has eczema and has had it almost since he was born. I can only use 1 kind of soap on him, it is Huggies baby wash with Shea Butter, it comes in a yellow bottle and it also has lotion to go with the baby wash (you can buy it almost anywhere, Walmart, Target, CVS, Walgreens, Shoprite, etc). I have tried other baby washes with and without Shea Butter but he still gets too many break outs with those or he gets an immediate rash. I have also tried many, many other soaps/body washes for sensitive skin, fragrance free etc. nothing helps as much as Huggies. When he has minor outbeaks I use regular hydrocortisone cream on him (breakout areas only) when he has a bad breakout we have a prescription from the doctor for Elocon Cream. The Elocon cream is unfortunately a steriod but, he has no ill effects from using it. When he was little we used a non-steriod cream from the doctor called Elidel but, after a a year of almost daily use it was pulled from the market because they found it can cause skin cancer in children. I almost fainted when the doctor told me this. Thankfully he has had not problems as a result. We used the Elocon at that time as well for bad breakouts. I also have found that he cannot use any of the "made for ecezma" products on the market (soaps, lotions etc.) they contain lavender and anything with a lavender scent makes his eczema freak out big time. He also cannot use Bounce Dryer sheets. I try to stick with unscented or senstive skin laundry detergents. I hope this info helps a little.

Although my kids' eczema is under control at home, it always flares up at WDW. The daily suncreen (multiple times per day), hand washing, different soaps (I think they react to the laundry soap used on the sheets), and pool water generally take a major toll on their skin. No matter how much you try to keep things the same as at home there are just sooooo many triggers on vacation.

Definitely take a nightly bath to remove all "residue", always rinse after the pool and have your cream in your bag. For us it's hydocortisione, but the kids needed it at different points throughout the day.
