We will be in Epcot on Jan 6, my DS's 6th birthday. He would like to eat at the Garden Grill, but before I make my ADR, I have a couple of questions. Are the characters there for lunch or just dinner? I have read in the Unofficial Guide that the dessert is a chocolate fondue. Is it still that? DS would rather have the chocolate fondue than a birthday cake, but I want to be sure this is the dessert. Otherwise, I'll order a cake for him.

We were at MK for his 4th birthday and ate at LTT which was great for a birthday. We had a great cake and they fussed over him. Has anyone done a birthday at the Garden Grill?

Thanks for all the info.

We were there last week for lunch. Characters are there for both lunch and dinner. They no longer serve fondue for dessert. My wife and I were served a dome of rich chocolate cake, infused and covered with whipped cream. Leaning on the cake were small slices of marble cheescake, pecan pie, and a lemon pie.

It was delicious. We really enjoyed this place. :Pinkbounc

The characters are there for both lunch and dinner. The fondue is gone I believe. Check out the new menu on allears before you book, it has gone back to a family style meal. Sorry, never done a birthday there, but did at 1900 Park Fare and Crystal Palace and both were really special.

We had lunch there 2 weeks ago on an extremely unbusy Sunday afternoon right when they opened (12:00) and the characters were there immediately. We got to see them a lot. Sometimes they sat at the table with us, sometimes they insisted we take a picture with them, it was fun.
I would describe the only dessert choice as a sampler with all the things already mentioned above. It was good but we were so full, we hardly ate any of it! I think it would be fun for a kid's birthday...

We have done a couple of great b-days there, but our 3rd time was not a charm. I've since talked to a mgr. and found out it was my server (wish we hadn't tipped her it was so bad). The mgr. told me there is one thing you should be aware of. Guests are supposed to instigate singing "The Happy Birthday Song" and then staff can join in. Because of copyright laws the servers at GG have been told they can't start the singing. I used to give this place rave reviews for b-days, but after my 7 yr. old's UNbirthday there, it's had to be as certain and enthusiastic. The more recent terrible experience is still too fresh in my mind, but if I were to go back to the previous 2 birthdays, I'd highly recommend a GG b-day.
