Garden Grill??

In my opinion it is the best character interaction meals. The characters come around multiple times and really take the time to visit with your kids. The food is fresh and tasty if you eat what is on the menu. Its not fancy, very meat and potatoes.

I'm wondering when the last time was that you ate there? As I stated above, we have eaten here many times, and at our trip in May, the food was wilted, dry and just plain horrible looking on the plate. After tasting, it wasn't much better. It really has gone downhill and since we've eaten here many times, we have lots to compare to and so in our opinion, the food has really gone down in quality. This is not personal opinion - dry meat, wilted greens, heavily salted potatoes and warm drinks were the norm that trip, and the trip before, so for us, that is a pattern. I'm not sure what you mean when you say "if you eat what is on the menu"? Our adult buffet food and our kids' meals were non edible on our last two trips, so all of the food was bad. :(

I do so hope that those of you who are going soon have a better experience as GG is in need of some serious upgrades to all aspects of the restaurant.

The last time I ate at the GG was this past Dec, so 3 months ago.
If your meal was so bad, why did you not send it back? I would never pay for something that was not edible. Maybe they were having a bad night, but I would have brought it to the attention of the manager.
"If you eat whats on the menu" meant if you eat fried catfish(some don't), steak etc. It is not a buffet with a wide variety of food as you know from eating there in the past. I never said it was the best meal ever, but the character interaction is much better than most of the other options on property. We went to Crystal Palace in Dec as well for dinner and had hardly any character interaction and the food was on par with Golden Corral, edible, but totally not worth the money.

As I stated before we were there in November '08 and didn't find that at all. The rotation was working fine, the characters were great and the food was good. My 19-yr old has picked it for the next trip as his choice of places to eat. He likes more of the "comfort" foods.

Sorry yours was so bad.:sad1:

That's very recent, so perhaps they've improved? That would be good.

We sent back many things, and they came out the same. I'm from a restaurant family, so I'm very well-versed in the restaurant biz. The server was horrible, and the characters were totally mixed up, not to mention the rotation of the restaurant was off (it had been several times over our 16 day trip as well).

Honestly, like I said, the food has been bad our last 2 trips, so that's the way it is, I guess. It's very easy to dry out chicken, meat and fish - my dad could go on and on about that - LOL! It was, what it was and has been our last few trips. The presentation of the food on the plate was so pathetic, and I mentioned that, and the server just kind of looked at me and didn't say a word. We sent food back, and it came back the exact same way, so that tells us the kitchen was accepting of that food, and that was that.

We were on the Deluxe plan and mentioned that we weren't happy, but nothing was done in that regard, so we left it alone as we had already spoken to our server, the restaurant manager, the hostess and the character handler about various issues we had throughout our dinner.

It's funny you mention that Crystal Palace food was not to your satisfaction - we have eaten there at least 10x and it is always acceptable. The meats are not dry, the fruit and veggies are fresh, the drinks are plentiful and always refilled and the character interaction is stellar whenever we are there.

I know dining opinions and reviews are very personal in nature, but we are relatively easy to please as we are from a restaurant family, so we are very neat and tidy, bus our own tables, clean up food that our kids drop on floor, don't ask for hardly anything from our servers, but when food is dry and unedible, then that makes for an unenjoyable experience for us. Throw in broken rotation, drinks never refilled and a huge character mix up, then the experience is not good for us. This has happened on our last 2 trips, so this is enough of a pattern for us. We'll let GG work out their issues, and hopefully refurbish, and then we'll be back at a later date!
