Garden Grill or Biergarten?

Trying to figure out where we should eat when in Epcot. It will just be me and my mom. I have been to Garden Grill before and enjoyed it. I liked the character interaction and thought the views of living with the land ride was neat. My mom has never been to Garden Grill. Neither one of us has been to Biergarten and we both like german food. It seems to be a neat restaurant. So, which to choose? I don't want to do Biergarten for lunch and Garden Grill for dinner because that will be way too much food for us. We are also on a really short trip so it is impossible to do both.

Thanks in advance

I would choose Biergarten...especially if you like German food and have never been there. Good food and atmosphere!

To us GG is one of the worst dining experiences we've had at WDW...Biergarten in my eyes was awesome...But I love meat, Big steins of Beer and a family atmoshphere. DW not so much, nor our kids.....Once again I enjoyed it, & would go back in a heartbeat, provided they said they would...LoL

At Biergarten do you have seats or benches? My mom and I are nice people but we aren't the most outgoing and would not want to be crowded in a table with other people. We have been to Hibachi restaurants and are fine with sharing a table as long as we don't feel like another family is on top of us.

I have been to both and I would choose Biergarten. It is also always fun to try a new restaurant.

Never really cared much for GG, but we always find our way to Biergarten, but then again, we never met a beer we didn't like. The live music and lederhosen is nice too! Cheers!

Biergarten is on our must do list every trip. And the Garden Grill is the only table serve we have been to that we would NEVER go back to. Hated it there.

There are seats, but most of the tables are for eight people, so you'll most definitely be seated with another family or two. If that makes you uncomfortable, stick with GG.

We don't do Biergarten because of the seating situation. Aside from my middle son (and I'm not sure where he came from!) we are largely introverted and really enjoy meal time to talk to each other and relax. We find the seating at places like Biergarten and Teppan Edo are just uncomfortable for us. For that reason, and because we have always enjoyed GG, I would recommend dinner there.

i go to biergarten on every trip.
i go solo and always end up with 7 other peeps at the table.

i'm there for the food and entertainment but having someone at the table can be enjoyable at times.

try to make your adr when the entertainment is scheduled.
it's lively and fun.

We aren't outgoing people at all but we've done Biergarten twice & love it. Give it a shot.

I'd also pick Biergarten, and I'm not particularly outgoing. The food is very good as is the atmosphere. Check out the entertainment schedule and try to make your reservation about 30 minutes before a performance.

well, even though i am not as outgoing as others, i just do a quick hello how are you when i am seated with 7 peeps at biergarten.
i'm not chatty when it comes to food at a buffet.......
some occassions i sit with a chatty group, other times many keep to themselves.
doesn't make me feel uncomfortable at all.

i'm there for the food ..........lol
and the oy oy oy raising of the glasses during entertainment time.

At Biergarten - They will sit you across from the person in your party. You are not on benches but in individual chairs at a long table for 8. My family of 4 shared a table with 2 retired couples. We chatted some, but towards the end of the meal the 2 other couples were talking to each other. My husband and I just focused on DD and DS.
I'd request a table toward the lower levels because you'll feel a part of the action - plus less need to talk to your neighbors. The last 2 times, we were seated up on the outer level of tables by the buffet. It was convenient for getting food but not very good for seeing the show. Try Biergarten - it's fun!

Biergarten is one of my favorite things about WDW, and I actually watch the little phone video I made of the entertainment quit a bit (geek :o). I wouldn't miss it. I'm a super introvert and wasn't thrilled about the seating the first time we went, but I found that once the entertainment starts, you can quickly wrap up the small talk.

Definitely the biergarten.. The atmosphere and food are better than GG in my opinion. My DW and I have been every year for the last 5 (going on 6) years. It is a "must" on our stops to eating at Epcot (or WDW for that matter). Even if you aren't chatty with the people you share a table with I think that you would have a good time. We have been sat with an array of different personalities while there.

I've heard the music can be a little loud at Biergarten (never been there myself but friends have). My mom wouldn't enjoy this, but maybe your mom is okay with that.

We like both!

Biergartens - definitely for dinner
Garden Grill - younger aged kids enjoy more/dinner

Enjoy!

Thanks for all the input. I ended up not being able to decide and since I had an extra dining credit that I didn't know what to do with I decided to book Biergarten at noon and Garden Grill at 7:45. Idk if we will be able to eat that much but at least we should have a good 6 hour to try and work up an appetite…I was hoping for a 7pm reservation because I wanted to finish eating and be out of the park before the illuminations crowd but, oh well, at least I got reservations at both.
