garden grill & liberty tree big changes

Disney Dining has confirmed that the lunch service at Epcot's Garden Grill will end October 5, 2008. The location will be open for Dinner only, starting October 6, 2008. Also, being eliminated is Goofy's Liberate Your Appetite Character Dinner at Magic Kingdom's Liberty Tree Tavern. This popular character experience will be discontinued January 5, 2009. The final offering will be January 4, 2009. Guests with current reservations should call to make alternative arrangements.

I have lunch reservations for Dec 12th at the Garden Grill . I Have received no call yet from Disney yet. I find this unprofessional as I am way past 180 days out!

I have called and made reservations elsewhere, but not the times I was looking for. I haven't cancelled my lunch reservation at Garden Grill. Guess I want to see how long it will take to get that call.

I wonder how many people are going to show up and find out there is no longer lunch at Garden Grill? Not everyone reads these boards....

I have a lunch ressie for the Garden Grill in October. I wonder when they will bother to inform me that it is useless?

I can't buy the argument that it will save Disney money by not having characters. We tried to get into the GG this past May, and they had no availabilty whatsoever. How can taking characters out of a packed restaurant, and not serving lunch, save money?

My DH loves the LTT dinner. Are they just removing the characters or are they changing the menu as well? If they're changing the menu we're considering heading out for one more meal this November. It was his idea and he never volunteers for a Dis trip.

From what the cm told me, the food will stay the same, but w/o the characters, but this is subject to change

Like others I too have an ADR for Garden Grill in early December. I just made it a week and a half ago, which is why I find this all so strange that they would allow me to make this ressie if they knew it wouldn't be offered!

My family loves the Garden Grill. We have lunch there every time we go to WDW and the character interaction was great! Very disappointed in Disney with this decision!

Exactly what has put me off the place all these years!

Not sure if any of you have noticed but the media is all pretty doom and gloom at the moment in regards to the economy. Get a real impression from other threads that Disney are probably just battening down the hatches. I do agree that it is sad when a favorite is the one at the end of the cuts.

I think most people would agree that LTT has awesome lunch offerings ~ the food is delicious at lunch. One could only hope that dinner would take on the lunch menu.
