We have a ADR here in two weeks. I've been weary :confused3 of this ADR since I booked it. I get motion sickness VERY easily. Will the rotating bother me or is it hardly noticable? I can handle the Rockin Roller Coaster and Tower of Terror but anything that spins is a no go. Even a gentle spin will get me woosy. Woosy while dining would not be a happy combonation. So what have your experiences been?

It's a very gentle movement. It's not "spinning".:rotfl:

My DH gets seasick, hates the tea cups, even hates the pooh ride due to tigger's jumping - and he's fine at GG. We dined there twice in one week (our boys LOVED it) neither time did he feel or notice any movement.

If the changing scenery bothers you, ask to be seated in a booth on the second level. The booth backs are so high, they're really private you can't see a thing around you.

Have fun, the characters there are some of the best!

Honestly, the revolving won't make you sick at all but the food might. We ate there last Aug and were less than impressed but my youngest DS loved the revolving aspect of the restaurant. He loved it so much that we had to eat there for his birthday dinner in Jan. Well we went and the food was horrible and the service was not much better (from the hostess to the waiter.) I told my entire family after that meal we will NEVER eat there again. I'm not that picky and I don't expect gourmet meals at all but I do expect something a tad bit better than reheated slop. It was a complete waste of $60 (for 1 adult and 1 child).

There are two places that we will never eat at in WDW again 1) Hollywood and Vine and now Garden Grill.

Every time someone mentions Garden Grill, I go to allears and check out the menu and then I remember why it wasn't an option for an ADR for us. I think the revolving would be really cool but the menu is so limited. Yuck.

OP, FWIW we did the one in Niagara Falls that revolves & my DH gets motion sickness from going around in circles, no problems at all for him.

It revolves so slowly you wouldn't even realize you were revolving until you notice the scenary you had been looking at is no longer in front of you now.

As for the food - I was very hestitant our last trip about trying this out - I'm really picky, and menu seemed so limited. But I have to say, we all LOVED it and 3 adults and 3 kids, all are excited to go back again on our upcoming trip.

I hate to rag on anything Disney, but I have to CONCUR COMPETELY with this comment. Garden Grill was unquestionably the worst dining experience in my trips to Disney. At our time there, the restaurant wasn't rotating (the machinery was broken).

The food was, quite simply, awful. In fact, my mom actually became ill moments after we at there. I understand you pay a premium for eating at Disney on-site restaurants, but this place was not worth the $$$ we threw at it. It was just, frankly, bad.

I think this place tries to be a "comfort food/southern style" restaurant, but having had my share of fried chicken, catfish, and similar foods in my home state of Oklahoma, the best I can say is that it was a poor, poor imitation. Greasy (with the decided taste of old grease), sticky potatoes, etc.

In case you hadn't noticed, we won't be back. I think TPTB @ WDW need to rethink GG.

we LOVE the Garden Grill. We love the food and the atmosphere and the view. You will never even notice the movement. The flank steak ,fish, and salads are so good after having park hamburgers for a few days. I have heard so many do not like it- but we love it.

We were so sad that they aren't serving lunch anymore. :( Eating an early lunch at GG is a tradition for us, but we won't get to this year.

"Motion" is practically non-existant. I had to look VERY closely when we entered to see that it was indeed rotating. My rough timing of it says it takes about an hour to make a full rotation. The flank steak was really good, and cooked just right. And the catfish - well, I love fish, and I have every right to be a fish snob because I frequently have trout for dinner that was swimming that morning - I was pleasantly surprised that the fried catfish was actually quite decent. Certainly not the greatest ever, but pretty darn good. Go, enjoy.

I too suffer from motion sickness and found the GG to be ok for me!!

Food wise - I have a cheese allergy so again, the chef came out and chatted to me and we were good to go. We all found the food fine - no problems, ordered more as and when we needed it too. (3 adults dining) The catfish was a little too spicy for us but the rest of the food was yummy!!

Service was a little slow but then our poor server was working so many tables I'm not surprised - he was fun and jolly though and helpful explaining drink and meal details.

Characters are great - sad to see chip and dale go though - they both proposed to me the night we ate there - it was so much fun!!

We love the catfish at the Garden Grill! Never got motion sick and we are going back this July! :thumbsup2 The kids love the whole experience, and Mickey looks so cute in his farmer duds!

Honestly, it might. I also can't handle any spinning motion and I was mostly OK at GG, but I did notice it a bit. When I was paying attention that is. It does move very slowly that unless you are really thinking about it, you don't notice. But of course at times I couldn't help but concentrate on the fact it was moving. Overall if I looked only at the table and my family I was fine, but I got a little feeling here and there when I looked away at the scenes going by and really noticed when I had to get up and walk to the restroom...which you have to leave the actual restraunt to do. Not bad or anything, but enough that I was certainly not looking to extend the meal there.

I do have to agree with the poor food reviews. It was not unedible, but it was by far our least favorite meal of our trip last year. The salad and the fresh veggies were good, but the rest was just mediocre. The characters however were excellent. Best interaction we had of the trip. They came around about 3 times each and Chip and Dale were very funny with the kids. Overall I'm glad we tried it just for that fact, but I've also crossed it off my list to try again any time soon.

regards

Man I LOVE the GG.. BUT it's just my daughter and I and she get the kid stuff and I order a veggie meal and get some of the adult sides. It has always been a risotto of whatever veggie is fresh and OOOOHHH soooo good!

The character interaction at the GG is awesome and I love that for the most part there is actually room for the characters to interact!

We ate at GG last may and loved it. I am a very picky eater. I only like fresh home cooked meals. I thought the lunch buffet was very tasty and the fresh cooked green beans were great. Everything tasted very home cooked, not prepackaged as many buffets do at disney. This was served family style. We also got excellent service. The characters came around several times and lots of time for photos. We also ate at 11:00 to help avoid the crowds with my sons autism . We had a party of 3 DH , myself and 25 year old handicapped adult son. The characters and waitress both went out of their way for my son. They let him order off the childrens menu due to the fact he likes all they kind of food being he is a child at heart and mind! It was the best character meal we have at at DW. Unforgettable!

Can I just say that many years ago my dad had lunch there and he DID get motion sick!! - So just to warn you that it IS possible!! (He was very motion sick though - he could only go in a car if he was the driver - if that gives you an idea of how bad he was!!):lmao:

What characters besides Mickey will be there then? Pluto?

Garden Grill used to be so good. I went in the late 90s and the early 00s and really enjoyed it. Went back in 07 and wasn't nearly as happy with the meal. We've avoided it on several trips since then.

Our family really liked the Garden Grill, but My husband did have a bit of trouble with the movement. I, personally, never felt it, but he couldn't stop feeling it. He enjoyed the food liked the environment, but he said that he would think twice about eating there again b/c the movement gave him a headache. He has no trouble with any rides, but had the same problem on a cruise that we took several years ago. It sounds like you would likely be ok, but some people do have a hard time.
